Hi,

Not sure this is under the right section. I have been watching the history channel quite a bit lately, and they seem to be running alot of shows that think the world will come to an end in the year 2012. Their shows are interesting, but I am not sure what to make of them. The history channel is a well respected television channel right? Any thoughts on this.

Yeah, it's called a ratings game. They did the same back in 1999

Maybe it is well respected, but it runs too many of these "cheap" shows. Aliens, UFOs, end of the world, and stuff like that, the History Channel loves these. There's probably a niche there, between the sort of people that watches more serious channels -like Discovery Channel, National Geographic, etc- and those who only watch Simpsons and American Idol (not that there's anything wrong with these shows, they're great to see occasionally to have some fun).

Check these sky coordinates. Hope this is nothing.

-6.01931, -91.5903
or
5h 53m 27s, -6 10' 58

It's literally nothing on Google Sky... just a black square where stars should be... Is that the point?

I dont know about being history in that way, though I was recently contemplating how we might be history in this sort of way:

The world ending in 2012? Don't be ridiculous! How could the world possibly end in 2012?

Oh . . .
