Kelsey Moody, director of SENSFAI-U (formerly MFURI)

First interview with Kelsey June 1st of last year, just as the ball was getting rolling.

MFURI program from late last year with Kelsey, Sven, Johan, and Cnorwood as guests.

Here is the short story:

Early last year Kelsey Moody, and undergraduate from Plattsburgh University, found out about the Methuselah Foundation and decided it would be a good idea to get undergrads involved as well. He met many people involved in the fight (against aging and death), convinced MF to support his efforts, appeared on the Sunday Evening Update, worked very hard, and was very successful thus far.

Check out the MFURI website to read about what research has been conducted.

Imminst supported MFURI students with $2,000 worth of scholarship money last Fall, and might again offer scholarships this year. Several Imminst members/undergrads are working with MFURI on various projects as well.

Kelsey will be on hand this Sunday at 6pm eastern (2200 GMT) to provide an update on the state of the organization and answer questions.

View the Sunday Evening Update channel here or at Imminst TV.

I tried to link to his bio at mfuri.org but it froze up and crashed both of my computers for hours. The site is changing, Im not sure if thats why. I think it was a combination of that and both of my computers since they both suck. If you want though you can try to look him up in the MFURI page.

Ive been waiting on promotional material to develop to work with in helping recruit MFURI to colleges but now Im not sure what is going on so Im eager to see this interview.

We have a weekly Imminst sponsored MFURI (now some other name we'll find out more about on sunday) meeting. This meeting is for imminst members to meet in and help recruit for mfuri. Many weeks its just me in there spending the hour doing a bit of recruiting. If there were a few more of us in there each week then we could get a lot more done. Please do show up for that everybody. We will just be contacting schools for one hour for the week and chatting about MFURI in general. Thanks to everybody who has shown up and I hope to see everybody there more in the future.

Holy mackeral! A small sign of progress for life extension advocacy (and the Sunday Evening Update) - I did a search for "Kelsey Moody" on Google and the first 2 results were the interview I did with Kelsey last summer.

Nice, great news.

Small memeing here and there is building toward bigger and bigger amounts that are going to start avalanching more everywhere.

This reminds me to remind everybody to remember the use of key words. Like, if your going mention imminst on MF or something on the internet or something, then write out Immortality Institute, and Methuselah Foundation and stuff like that when you can. It all helps key word meme this to much greater extents. Like, when I talk about MFURI I try to write it out as often as possible, "Methuselah Foundation Undergraduate Research Initiative" (now changed to another name to be found out about more sunday) Then people googling say, "Undergraduate Research" are much much much more likely to find that topic, and so just that simple thing is huge for the cause.

I won't be able to catch the live show this week. Concerning potential, future guests, it might be worthwhile to ask Justin Bonomo if he would consent to an interview. He is an active supporter of the Methuselah Foundation. As a professional poker player, he might provide a unique perspective on life and healthspan extension, ways to promote the Meme, etc.

I have no clue as to whether or not Justin would agree to give an interview; however, it would be worth a shot to ask him at some point in the future.

I keep using the acronym MFURI, because many of you are familiar with it, however, the official new name of the organization is the SENS Foundation Academic Initiative for Undergrads or SENSFAI-U

Here are some of the things that will likely be covered during the interview:

1. Transition from MF to SENSF

2. Use of ImmInst funds for students

3. Program expansion (high school, undergraduate, graduate level)

4. Increased quality of research (Project Development Committee of volunteer PIs)

5. Increased student enrollment, ~50 students including 3 clubs

6. Student Coordinator Fellowship Program (SCFP) for student group leaders

7. Presence in medical schools

Thanks for the suggestion of a future guest Anthony.

Interview coming up at the end of this hour everybody. If your a student or know a student and you support this cause then you wont want to miss this. There could be no better opportunity than this. You can help the cause and get free money for school to do it.

I recomend viewing it from the imminst.org/tv source. Store that link in your brain. Its a dynamically useful source.

Immortality Institute TV, bringing you weekly programming and live shows for the cause, what could be better?

Live regularily scheduled life extension art show coming soon.

Many thanks to Kelsey for another great interview (technically sound as well - no computer or audio troubles this week)

Briefly:

1. Announced that SENSFAI-U students were recently published in a peer-reviewed journal (regarding glucosepane)
2. Announced potential new high school and graduate school outreach.
3. A well-known medical school club might be taking up SENSFAI-U research.
4. Their aging questionaire has gotten around 100 responses.
5. Imminst scholarship money was awarded to the students working on glucosepane research and 2 more scholarships will be awarded at the end of this semester.
6. A grant has been awarded for the study of tau protein.
7. Had a good discussion about how attitudes toward life extension are changing.
8. and much more.....

I was unable to attend the interview last Sunday, but I did watch the recorded version afterwards and it was a great interview.

Is it really that unusual for students' papers to be published in a peer-reviewed journal?
