It seems that this supp is actually helping with my hiatal hernia, like it helped another user. Strange, but whatever works. Do you guys recommend any particular brands?

Vitamin Shoppe: not recommended.
Don't judge me on the latter, I was young and foolish.

It seems to help close it. Not as well as I'd like, or as well as the reglan/metocloprimide I was taking, but does help.

Effect of Asparagus racemosus (Shatavari) on gastric emptying time in normal healthy volunteers.

Asparagus racemosus (Shatavari) is used in Ayurveda for dyspepsia (amlapitta) and as a galactogogue. It was hence compared with a modern drug, metoclopramide, which is used in dyspepsia to reduce gastric emptying time. Gastric emptying half- time (GE t1/2) was studied in 8 healthy male volunteers using a cross-over design. The basal GE t1/2 in volunteers was 159.9 +/- 45.9 min (mean +/- SD) which was reduced to 101 +/- 40.8 min by Shatavari (p less than 0.001) and to 85.3 +/- 21.9 by metoclopramide (p less than 0.001). Metoclopramide and Shatavari did not differ significantly in their effects.

Metoclopramide has a lot of negative side-effects, shatavari has basically none.

Very interested, but this is for gastric emptying, not sure if it will close my Lower Esophogeal Sphincter, but worth a shot. A quick search into it showed that this is, in ayurvedic medicine, something for women. What's the reason for that? Any hormonal effects?

I don't know, but if it has similar effects to that drug in one respect it MAY have similar effects in others.
Not sure about the other effects. I was using it to control heartburn, but then I found triphala (another ayurvedic) and it completely cured me in about 8 weeks (Triphala Gold, 2 pills twice a day).

Yes, triphala basically eliminated acid reflux for me.
Quite amazing!
