Resveratrol 10MG? R u kidding? No offense but its a waste. In fact I think that most of your dosages are way too low to have a profound effect. My advice? Drop a few and add more income to the ones that really matter. Resveratrol may be expensive but aim for at least 100 MG (even that would be considered low by many). Carnosine seems fine (though 500MG would be better), GSE, and GTE are also good. What kind of diet are you eating? Also you may want to replace your synthetic vitamin E (dl) with a balanced tocopherol formula bump up the omega3s as well.

best.

Way too low, but still enough to kill yourself, eh? 800mcg folic acid? I'd love to find out who is promoting such doses and why...

I second that. Folic acid should not be supplemented in such quantities in men. If you want to have a good prostate by the time you're in your 50s or 60s, stay away.

Thanks for your input. My regimen is basically a modified version of OrthoCore (http://www.aor.ca/ht...ducts.php?id=96), so many values are quite similar.

folic acid: Ok, which value would be optimal? 100 mcg? Lower?

@ biochemie: I looked at the amounts of these substances in food, and tried to "emulate" healthy food. The idea is that if these substances are healthy in food-quantities, then why not supplement them in food quantities?

Are there any specific substances in this list that you would consider totally useless? Which ones?

Yeah, I'll up my Resv dosage a little.

I've been worried by the folic acid content of orthocore for some time now; it was formulated before most of the data was available I guess... Personally I wouldn't supplement any folic acid at all and just get it from diet. I think 100mcg might be fine.

Same here. I use ortho core but only take 2 caps per day to ensure I get something of everything. Then, I use coconut oil, whey protein isolate, etc..
The reason is that studies show it increases risks of ... . So does excessive calcium intake. Watch out. You wanna take things that will maintain optimal health. Use what we know to guide your choices.

Here are the supplements I use:

Resveratrol : 300mg/day micronized
Methylselenocysteine
Carnosine : 1g/day
Benfotiamine : 150
K2 (mk4) : 15mg
LEF Blueberry extract
LEF Pomegranate extract
Alpha Lipoic acid
Ortho Core 2/day
Green tea extract
Grape seed extract
Pycnogenol 100mg/day
Brocolli extract
Magnesium 500 mg
Vit D3 4000/day (varies though)
Niacin 200mg/day
Jarrow Lyco-Sorb
Astavita, AstaREAL Astaxanthin
EPA/DHA
GLA

Pretty much it. Its a work in progress though and i'll probably flip some things around.
I also follow a semi-strict Paleo diet that is popular here and have to say, i love it. Use strictly olive oil and coconut oil. Check out posts by DukeNukem and look at all the videos around and get educated.
I really love the http://heartscanblog.blogspot.com/ website. Full of great info. and i'm sure you'll find plenty of good info from these posts.

Best to you.

Alpha lipoic acid I take 125mg on an empty stomach first thing in the morning and again in the afternoon. I wouldn't advise taking it before or after working out though (or any other anti-oxidant with the exxception of resveratrol i think).
Don't overdo it in the beginning. Slowly add things into your diet and see how you feel. For rsveratrol, start with 100mg/day for a week or two and then try and jump it up,...

I take about 1.5g of EPA per day and 200mg of DHA. With my oils, i take all of my fat-soluble supps:Vit K2, D3, Lycopene, Astaxanthin, GLA, etc...

On a tight budget I would stay with Blueberry and Pomegranate, Vit D3, Niacin, EPA/DHA, Vit K2 (MK7 though), magnesium, niacin, multi-vit and some resveratrol if you can afford it.

Good luck to you.

Dont forget to research nutrition. Probably just as or more important than everything else.

I am currently trying to streamline my regimen. The stimulant/nootropic part stays the same, but the health/longevity part looks like this:

Before breakfast

Acetyl L-Carnitine 200 MG N/A
L-Carnosine 500 MG N/A
Grape Seed Extract (95% OPC) 100 MG N/A
Green Tea Extract (50% Catechins) 260 MG N/A

After lunch

L Acidophilus 200 MG N/A
Cayenne Pepper Powder 50 MG N/A
Curcumin ( 95% curcuminoids) 200 MG N/A
Vitamin E (dl-alpha-tocopherol) 10 IU 33%
Vitamin E (Natural D-Alpha Tocopheryl Succinate) 15 IU 50%
N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) 100 MG N/A
Lycopene 15 MG N/A
Niacin (Vitamin B3) 40 MG 200%
Sulbutiamine 50 MG N/A
Thiamine HCl (Vitamin B1) 7 MG 700%
Vitamin A (Vitamin A acetate) 2000 IU 40%
Pantothenic Acid (Calcium-D-Pantothenate) 20 MG 200%
Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin) 600 MCG 10,000%
Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) 20 MG 1,000%
Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) 3 MG 300%
Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) 2000 IU 500%
Biotin (Biotin) 400 MCG 133%
Magnesium (Magnesium aspartate) 50 MG 13%
Lutein 20 MG N/A
Beta Carotene (ProVitamin A) 6 MG N/A
Iodine (Potassium Iodide) 50 MCG 33%

Before bed

Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) 2000 IU 500%
Magnesium (Magnesium aspartate) 200 MG 50%
Zinc (Zinc Aspartate) 15 MG 100%
Copper (Copper Chelate) 1 MG 50%
Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) 200 MG 333%
Boron (Boron Gluconate) 1 MG N/A
Vitamin K (Phytonadione) 50 MCG 63%
Chromium (Chromium Polynicotinate 120 MCG 100%
Vanadium (Vanadyl Sulfate) 50 MCG N/A
Iodine (Potassium Iodide) 150 MCG 100%
Manganese (Manganese Sulfate) 1 MG 50%
Molybdenum (Molybdenum citrate) 45 MCG 60%
Selenium (Selenium Citrate) 100 MCG 143%
Calcium (Calcium carbonate) 275 MG 28%

The subdivision is mostly because of possible undesireable interactions (like green tea extract reducing mineral absorption) and different needs at certain times (caffeine in green tea wakes you up -> morning; magnesium and taurine makes you calm -> evening).
The capsules in this case will be custom-made from customcapsule. They are 2 caps 3 times a day. There is no Resveratrol and Astragalus in it - I'm going to have a closer look at those, and will probably get them from a different supplier.

I would drop the Potassium and get it from diet through eating tomatoes, almonds, brazil nuts, broccoli etc in addition to adding benfotiamine for obvious reasons.
