I have had some anxiety issues for a long time myself. Bupropion(Wellbutrin) actually has a calming effect on me at doses of 150-300mg/day. It did cause some anxiety in the first week or two taking it, but after I adapted to it I actually felt more calm on it.

do you still find it effective as a psychostimulant (for mood, motivation, socialization) despite its calming effect? were i to try it, my plan was to not really exceed the doses you mention anyway

I've been using Bupropion for maybe six weeks now, and I'm still not sure what to make of it. It definitely gave me an "I don't give a fuck" kind of feeling. Any anxiety over future possible events is dissolved. Along with this I gained a lot of social comfort from it. Much like the way it lifted my general anxiety, my social anxiety also seemed almost completely gone.

I actually asked for the Bupropion because of a lack of enthusiasm, motivation, and energy. Some would say those issues define depression. Well the Bupropion did seem to help in this department as well, but not consistently. Some days I would feel "on" and others I would feel down. It was very cyclical and changed from day to day, and even sometimes during the same day. Maybe this was part of the adjustment to the medicine but it lasted for the entire first month. It only stopped when I began taking deprenyl along with it. I've been using deprenyl @ 2-6mg/day and Bupropion has been dropped to 150mg/day. I've been using this combo for over two weeks now and it's been great ever since. My need for caffeine has vanished since adding the deprenyl. Deprenyl is another one notorious for causing anxiety, and I experienced this with it at first also. Even 1mg(1 drop) used to make me restless. It didn't take long for that effect to subside though. I can now use 2mg doses a few times a day with no issues. My doctor wasn't too happy about me playing with these types of drugs, but he did add "If it's working, go ahead and keep using it."

Hello all,
I have managed to purchase 500mg of Selank peptide from a peptide synthesis company. If anyone is still interested I'll let you know how it goes. I am just waiting on some methyl paraben to be delivered and then I can mix up a 0.15% solution for intranasal application.

yes, please do let us know!

Started dosing with 0.15% solution made to manufacturers spec. Am at 6 sprays 3x per day. Felt a little nausea and headache at first. But I think this was due to a bad reaction with the Picamilon I was also taking , I have since stopped this and the headache has ceased. I also take bupropion 150mg SR at the moment too.

So far so good. I can definitely feel a anxiolytic effects already, I'm hoping that this will become more in time and perhaps I wont have to go to the full dose of 12 sprays 3x day (this would make it a better value purchase!).

Pretty impressive so far for such a small dose of substance.

I am always afraid of putting relatively unknown chemicals in my nose and damaging my sense of smell(ie Zycam) as scent is by far my strongest sense.

Kava works, doesn't have rebound anxiety, yet does build tolerance.

Would not take Kava long-term. There are rare, but very possible, liver problems associated with this.

You could try L-Theanine. Rather anxiolitic and does not sedate. Might not help a lot but it's worth a try.

Yeah Kava works indeed. I don't think it causes tolerance because I've been using for a long time.

I cycle it with L-theanine at times however.

Liver problems are only caused by improperly prepared extracts.

Can any of you recommend a brand of Kava extract that has worked for you? I've tried some available at local stores before, but found I didn't get a lot of the reported effects.

And can you elaborate on which extracts (or what processes) include the substances which cause liver problems?

Yeah I decided to move my findings over to another thread here that was specifically about selank. But now for some reason I can't seem the thread again via search. Guess it might have been deleted?

Anyways I'm getting on ok with selank. I have managed to stop taking my bupropion and have been on selank alone for about a week now. Seems to be working fairly well. I have had some nervous feelings but I assume this is mainly to do with withdrawal from the bupropion. Ive made a double strength mix and am taking the full dose which is 2.7mg per day in three doses of 900ug. Currently thats 6 sprays x3/day with this mix.

Any questions, just ask :)

Tandospirone probably is the ultimate anxiolytic, it was considered useless but a study found a remarkebly potent anxiolytic effect by taking high doses.
The big problem is that its only available in Japan, and the western brother of it (buspar) is a huge failure.

Tandospirone is typically used at a dose of 30 mg/daily[6] taken in divided doses of 10 mg three times per day due to its short half-life. Though originally considered a relatively weak anxiolytic agent,[6] a clinical study found that doubling the dose to 60 mg/daily resulted in a "remarkable anxiolytic effect with an early onset of action, and without significant adverse effects", as well as "excellent anxiolytic efficacy that is comparable to that of the benzodiazepines".[6] Even greater of doses may be progressively more useful, and in fact, human studies have gone as high as 160 mg without any significant adverse reactions mentioned.[7]

I did found a source for it, however they didnt reply to my email.

Another interesting med:

Tofisopam, its a non sedating benzodiazepine.

Tofisopam (marketed under brand names Emandaxin and Grandaxin) is a drug which is a benzodiazepine derivative. Like other benzodiazepines, it possesses anxiolytic properties but unlike other benzodiazepines it does not have anticonvulsant, sedative,[1] skeletal muscle relaxant, motor skill-impairing or amnestic[2] properties. While it may not be an anticonvulsant in and of itself, it has been shown to enhance the anticonvulsant action of classical 1,4-benzodiazepines such as diazepam (but not sodium valproate, carbamazepine, phenobarbital, or phenytoin).[3] Tofisopam is indicated for the treatment of anxiety and alcohol withdrawal, and is prescribed in a dosage of 50 – 300 mg per day divided into three doses. Peak plasma levels are attained two hours after an oral dose. Tofisopam is not reported as causing dependence to the same extent as other benzodiazepines, but is still recommended to be prescribed for a maximum of 12 weeks.[4]

Ah cool, anyone know why that page is really difficult to find? It doesnt come up on search via google right now.

Selank useage is still going well. I am nearing 2 weeks of use now and feeling a little better every day. It remains to be seen if I will achieve anxiety remission but as long as I can live my life without dilbilitating side effects from medications I dont mind.

In europe they were making extracts including leaves and stems and that was toxic. As long as it is root extract only you'll be OK.

Most extracts available are 30%, which at the recommended 2-3 tablets is not enough IMHO. Try doubling or tripling it.

HerbPharm is good as is GAIA. Personally I just use Vitamin SHoppe because it is cheap and seems to work as well as the others.
