The capabilities of Nanotechnology are astounding. Imagine having microscopic machines in your body that manufactured nutrients from raw materials and waste. If the body was able to turn its waste, its by-products into nutrients, vitamins, minerals, proteins, etc., then problems such as starvation and over-population could theoretically be eliminated. As with all new technologies, there is potential for misuse too. An unfortunate fact, but a reality that our greatest minds must take into consideration before developing and releasing such technologies. I remember reading an article about a scientist who created a microchip that was planted in the brain stem which recorded brain wave patterns and neuron firings. Then I read in a Neo-Tech manuscript, about the possibility of recording those brain patterns and copying them to a new brain in a cloned body, and in essence, giving the individual a new body. But I have to wonder about the state of conciousness. Would the individual maintain their I-ness? Would the individual truely be preserved?
An associate of mine mentioned the deterioration of the mental state as it relates to age. But is dementia, and such mental diseases, caused by the deterioration of the brain cells and the mis-firing of neural paths, which would essentially be repaired by a transfer into a new body?

This somewhat resembles one of my first posts I made here (~6 years ago).

In reference to the points you brought up,
