Recently I ran out of my supply of A-ret (generic tretinoin) from alldaychemist.com. I had, however, a prescription for 0.05% retin-a cream.

The cream they sell here is made by Janssen-Cilag. I have been using this cream for a week now, since running out of the generic alldaychemist product, and I believe my skin is looking better than when using the other product. The evenness of my skin tone is definitely better.

My appearance is similar to the results that really impressed me when I first started using retin-a (after having gone through the retinisation period). At this time I was unaware that alldaychemist offered a cheaper alternative and was using only a brand name product bought at the local pharmacy for no longer than two months before disposal.

In conclusion, perhaps alldaychemist's retin-a is not to be trusted. Has anyone had any similar effects?

I buy my Retin-A from MedsMex, and they are brand. For example, the formula of Retin-A gel from MedsMex and the "Retin-A" gel from ACD, are completely different.

There is a notepad on the MakeupAlley Web site that lists the ingredients for these retinoids. The inactive ingredients/vehicles have a direct bearing on how well these retinoids will work on the skin, and some ingredients can aggravate or cause problems for certain skin types."

The delivery system of something like Renova and Something like the generic indian brand differ as per the intended results. Renova is intended to be less irritating as a cream than the generic brands, which are intended to be used for acne. I am sure a bit of research went into the inactives in Renova that would lead to the least amount of irritation so it could be effectively used as an anti-wrinkle cream. That said we all should be very careful when using generics and use them only sparingly because it is quite possible that the delivery system in some of them may lead to prolonged irritation since they are only intended to be used in the short term.

Why don't you just use Retin-A micro?

I've used both ADC and brand name. They work the same to me. I've known of too many people who have bough from ADC and had great results for it not to be a top notch product.
