Just tried this stuff today on a tip from a friend. Must say that its not at all what I expected. I was told it was more like a "8 hour version of 5 hour energy", but that wasn't the case for me at all.

I only took one pill, and noticed by motivation and energy level go through the roof. I was trying to use it as a study aid, although I was almost too fired up to sit down. I couldn't read things as much as I wanted to just write stuff out an memorize it. Anyways, I was just wondering what your all's experience was. This seems like interesting stuff... I'm just not sure whats in it or how to optimize it.

Do you mean the supplement "SX" by anabolic xtreme?

That supplement is spiked with the drug 2-diphenylmethylpyrrolidine (http://en.wikipedia....thylpyrrolidine).

The 'original' version is now called SX and is spiked with the drug mentioned above.

The new version is powered by 1,3-dimethylamylamine.

Here is the drug description:

1,3-dimethylamylamine is a weak broad-spectrum adrenergic receptor agonist. It has less pressor effect than similar drugs like tuaminoheptane (1,3 is a terminal amine). It has a greater affinity for alpha-1 receptors than ephedrine - which generally equates to an inability to trigger NE release (great for nasal decongestion though). This is supported by the fact that in the original patent application for 1,3-dimethylamylamine, they used its "negligable effect on the nervous system" as a selling point for it being a nasal decongestant (1). Lastly, its structure yields a certain susceptibility for deamination which would make its ability to act centrally unlikely at low doses.

Anecdotally, it is a pretty good peripheral stimulant when coupled with caffeine (as it is in Stimulant X), although the crash is swift in most cases. It would definitely benefit from an MAO inhibitor (most likely MAO-A).

I've got some 1,3-dimethylamylamine coming in the near future, it sounds pretty interesting and is still legal and readily available. Supposedly it's better than amphetamines for some aspects of cognitive enhancement.

There's another good thread on 2-DPMP at the same forum. It sounds like a risky amphetamine-like drug in itself, let alone combined with a MAOI.

Do you ever worry that the drugs you're taking might be, erm, unhealthy? I'm just curious how the nootropic forum feels today.

I was referring to 1,3-dimethylamylamine in conjunction with a MAO inhibitor - *NOT* 2-DPMP. This drug wouldn't be deaminated/metabolized by a MAOi anyway.

Thanks for that clarification. 2-DPMP doesn't have an amino group, so I should have realized MAO would not be involved in its primary metabolism. Wouldn't there be safety issues with taking a MAOi in conjunction with 1,3-dimethylamylamine though?

2-DPMP has an amine, but it is a cyclic amine and therefore shielded from deamination (similar to phenylpiracetam).

1,3-dimethylamylamine has limited selectivity for alpha2 and beta1 receptors, so cardiotoxicity/pressor-effect is not much of a problem with a MAO inhibitor.
