I've been taking 3.2 mg of Piracetam and 300mg of AlphaGPC for almost 8 months now and loved the effects I got from it at first. The past 2 weeks however, I haven't noticed the same focusing effect I usually get from it. Starting about 5 days ago, I have had terrible headaches almost daily. I didn't take Piracetam or AlphaGPC this weekend, and felt much better, but had no motivation to do anything. I started taking it again today, and had a terrible lingering headache, and was completely zoning out in a class I usually pay attention to everything about. Occasionally I also feel like my body is hotter than usual, but my temperature is normal. Is this normal? Is my body building a tolerance to Piracetam? What can I do to stop the headaches? Should I try Oxiracetam instead? Sorry for all the questions but I'm about to be behind with work and the second round of midterms are starting soon, and I need to get things back to how they used to be.

I have taken Piracetam for about 1 year and noticed the about the same effect. Although I don't get headaches, the effect isn't as profound as when I first started it. My theory is that Piracetam has a lot to fix in the brain from alcohol/drugs when you first start taking it. That is why you notice such a profound effect when first taking it. After a about 1 year of piracetam without alcohol, your brain is probably completely healed. This is why you don't feel much of an effect anymore. Hopefully somebody else has a definite scientific answer, a better theory, or a way to make the effects more profound.

Do you know if oxiracetam or any of the other racetams will help then? I really miss the focusing effect, and work and school are now reflecting the difference (for the worse).

Sounds more like your just coming down with something. Never had a headache, feeling hot and tired before when you hadn't even heard of paracetam?

do you believe that piracetam is fixing/cleaning up your brain? that would mean that you should maintain it's 'effects' even after you discontinue but i don't think that is what's happening from the peoples experiences that i've been reading about

Not sure about the headaches as I thought AGPC was supposed to fix that. I take about 600mg of AGPC and 300-600mg of Piracetam depending. I use to take 2-3g's a day but it was too much (you say 3.2mg, do you mean grams?).

I have a question about the two in that when I take it my thoughts seem more organised and I can concentrate etc. but after having taken it for some time now I find it very hard to feel any real emotions. Everything seems way to "right or wrong" which is fine most of the time but not really when dealing with people. Can anyone suggest a reason or a solution? I was thinking of adding 5-HTP prior to posting this but I recall some time ago that it was not recommended, any ideas?

Found this link to 5-htp and Piracetam http://www.imminst.o...showtopic=29667 and it points to not being viable combination. Does anyone have any other suggestions ?

Maybe you are not responding well to the alpha-GPC. I used to take 4 grams Piracetam with 1-2 grams alpha-GPC and experienced the fog you describe. This week I cut the alpha-GPC completely and started taking 50mcg huperzine A. I noticed a significant improvement in my concentration, clarity and motivation.

Perhaps the alpha-GPC was causing an overload in choline, which was causing the brain fog. I suspect that by using huperzine, it is far easier to not overdose in choline, since you are just using the body's natural choline, which is kept from being broken down.

I heard that Galantamine has even better effects than Huperzine. I might try this after it runs out.

In general, if you are not getting the results that you want, you must keep making changes until you find what works.

After a week of huperzine, the brain fog seemed to slowly come back, as if my body is becoming tolerant to it. Maybe the same thing was happening with alpha-gpc, thus cycling might be needed. So, I still haven't found a way to bring back the initial effects.

Try citicoline? Shift the piracetam/choline ratio to 4:1?

Choline has a tendency to raise body temperature.

Please refer to "Piracetam Non-Responders" thread. None of the advice given in this thread has much grounding. "Tolerance" is thrown around MUCH too loosely, and if there is even such a thing for piracetam, it is of a completely different nature than the "tolerance" we associate with caffeine tolerance, alochol tolerance, marijuana tolerance, etc.
