Just had a call from someone at SBS about the program insight, here in Australia. She asked me a lot of questions about intelligence and nootropes. E.g: what I was taking, how it affected me and if I was concerned of any side affects.

Firstly my nootropic regimen:

- Piracetam
- Seligiline
- Huperzine-A (only taken during test time if at all)
- CDP-Choline
- Aniracetam
- Pramiracetam

If I am called onto the program I want to represent this little subculture of ours as favourably as possible- which will be good for all of us. Also, I will most definitely give a plug (referring to it) to the institute as many times as possible. This will be good for the institute.

I'm therefore asking all of you for help for answers to the various arguments that will most definitely be raised.

Some that I can think of, and please help me if you can think of some more, will be:

Are you concerned about any side effects?

- My response: Not with what I am taking. There are numerous studies that support the use of these supplements (do we have studies on everything that I'm taking? Can someone provide scientific arguments that would that the cautious approach that I take to using these things would not be detrimental to health?)

etc, etc. I'll update when I can think of more arguments.

The long term effects of using nootropics, i.e. are they safe? Will they cause any permanent damage in say 10, 20 or 30 years time, due to consistent use.

Great news Ben, and thanks, in advance, for giving Imminst a plug.

I don't have any particular advice as far as questions/answers just that when you plug Imminst, make sure that it does not come off as a place to buy/trade/sell noos. Imminst is a wonderful community of intelligent life extension advocates who enjoy discussing supps/noos (among many other things) as a method to enhance or extend their lives.

That a good point. I also take it in the quantities that he suggests.

He did say a lot of crazy things though. Hopefully people wont know too much about him.

Ben, I would stay away from discussing deprenyl. It`s a drug used for parkinson`s disease and your use, whilst justifiable, will not be easy to explain to people. In fact, it may be the topic they chose to discuss with you because it`s cutting edge. If I were in your shoes I would stick to just discuss nootropics/smart drugs in general. Smart drugs aid in improving executive functions. That`s a useful thing in the busy, dog eat dog, world we live in.

There was an article in Nature journal a little while back on smart drugs. I would look that up. I can`t help you with the reference at the moment because I`m currentlyin Tokyo and using someone elses computer.

Good luck anyway matey.

Oh yes.....I forgot, prepare yourself for a call from the TGA or the regulatory people if you mention any of the racetams or selegiline. The racetams are inhibited for import and selegiline is not on the prohibited list however I expect this to be the case in the near future once the TGA catches on. NOTE: if they announce your name you will also be blacklisted on the list at customs and all your piracetam shipments will be ceased.

You could point to the similarities between using more conventional methods, like using coffe and so on and also what is in our food already. I have found that to be a good approach to the subject overall, though what you will be in might be much more advanced and then it is not really needed.

I was not aware common noots were illegal in some countries, there might come up questions as to why they are illegal - then it might be nice to have some kind of answer to that aswell.

that's a very good excuse!

Yeah, I had misgivings myself. I said that I would talk about piracetam because I have a prescription for it but that I couldn't talk about anything else except the supplements I take (choline, huperzine, ginko, etc).

That blacklisting stuff is scary. I'm having second thoughts about talking about piracetam at all- even though I have that prescription. I don't want it to be more on the gov.'s radar.

Yeah, that's my plan. Also, I know that there will be this 'performance enhancing' and this 'cheating' nonsense and I'm going to say something like life is not the Olympics, and that this is more resourcefulness than cheating.

Probably more of a net negative.

Darn, I was hoping for a imbedded video ;) but what were the questions? I'm wondering why you saw it is a net negative. (I've not seen Brilliant Brains on in my area--anyone else able to record it? )
