I still remember back in 1993 when I was in Indonesia, at a town in Sumatra Island, I bought Tropilex which was supposed to be a generic form of Piracetam, 400mg caps, after taking 1 cap every morning for 3 weeks, I got nausea, severe headache, and it actually made my whole body feel like I was getting a flu like symptom.
This always happened after each 400mg dose. It actually made me feel a bit depressed, sleepy and lethargic.
I didn't know whether the batch was actually contaminated, until I migrated to Australia, and in 2001, I read the news via internet that there were hundreads of pharmaceutical medications were withdrawned from the pharmacies across Indonesia.
This made me really feel that I had to be careful about buying meds from unknown sources.
Again over the internet I saw that the price of Piracetam was a lot cheaper than the price I asked from the compounding pharmacy which has an account with the UCB PHARMA, Victoria, in Australia.
With the GP prescription, the compounding pharmacy has to process it with UCB PHARMA, and the price of NOOTROPIL 800mg 100tabs is about $150, whereas via internet I can get 1kg powder for about $50 or less.
Does anyone know the best thing to ensure that the Piracetam I am getting from the internet is pure ? ( by the way today I have already left my prescription in a pharmacy for them to process it with the UCB PHARMA,Victoria..... )
