last night i took 1600 mg with 250 mg of CDP Choline and the effects were kind of nice, but not extraordinary. i felt more relaxed in general. i went to a book store and i found myself taking a little more time examining the books on the shelf and flipping through them (thought maybe it was placebo, i'm not sure). i can say for sure, though, that later that night i felt a bit more creative and clearheaded while i was playing video games...

so today i took the attack dose... 2400 mg with 250 mg of CDP Choline in the morning and the afternoon. most noticeable effect: i felt tired, even sleepy. i found myself walking around a lot more slowly. all my physical and mental processes just seemed tired and sluggish. over the day i did a few stupid things that i almost never do normally; for instance i locked my keys in the car. i preheated the oven and forgot all about it, and a few other things.

i'm going to have to decrease the dose i suppose, can anyone explain this?

turns out that my problem was pretty common and that there is a simple explanation..."With smart drugs, just
enough is just right. Too much will have the opposite effect than what you intended."

there could be other factors, such as the fact that i had a pretty heavy lunch (double cheeseburger).

apparently the "dumb" effects of an incorrect dose last for another day or two, which sucks because i'm going to need some fairly intense concentration for a job tomorrow.

if a similar thread has been posted before, i apologize.

Um, I think you can blame the double cheeseburger quite easily. Such a fat and calorie-laden meal will make anyone feel sluggish.

i'm pretty sure the piracetam is mostly to blame here. double cheeseburgers haven't made me feel like that before. keep in mind the "dumb" effects i mentioned there...i don't remember the last time i had so many profound brain farts in a single day.

so yeah, i wouldn't achieve those effects with double cheeseburgers unless i poisoned them or something (you know, hypothetically speaking)...but that's just me.

Your own body doesn't seem to respond well to higher doses of Piracetam, this might be because you didn't proportionally increase your Choline intake. It may also be because your body functions optimally with 1600mg of Piracetam. Try increasing your Choline with your Piracetam, or stick to your original regiment.

I'd try 4.8g Piracetam with 0.8-1.2g of Choline and see what happens, basically find what works and stick with it.

Yeah, I'd say drop the dose down a bit. And if that doesn't work then just stop taking it. If it's really not working for you then what's the point, right?

It's been 7 days now and I've been taking 1600 mg + 250 mg CDP Choline in the morning and afternoon. In general I've felt an increase in confidence, creativity and clarity of thought, which were more pronounced during actively engaging tasks. I began thinking a lot more deeply than usual. Things like attention span, memory (short and long term) and learning haven't changed.

I'm beginning to feel sleepy again so I will have to lower the dose further.

While I was waiting for the Piracetam to come in the mail I tried 250 mg of CDP Choline by itself, and I got this weird warm/fuzzy sensation in my head, above/slightly behind my left ear for the rest of the day... since starting my regimen I continue to get this sensation every couple of days, and it's difficult to find other people with a similar experience so this is kind of strange(?).

If you want to make a simple regiment, you could always replaced CDP Choline with Alpha GPC. I don't think Alpha GPC is regulated by the body and it should readily pass through the blood brain barrier, it is best choline supplementation and offers mild nootropic effects unto itself. Take that with Piracetam and see what happens, it might not give you the same tingely feeling behind the ear.

If you're looking for concentration and memory a few good nootropics to consider are:

Hyperzine A - this one should work for concentration and attention span since it's a anti-choline esterase inhibitor, don't take too much
Vinpocentine - allows blood to more readily flow through the brain, vassilador(sp?)
Pyritinol (maybe) - don't remember exactly but it has some good nootropic effects, you may want to read up
Galantamine (although this is a bit more expensive) - has various effects, also worth a read
Pregnenolone - neurosteriod, best taken intra-nasally, this should have a dramatic impact on memory

Just throwing up a few there that might interest you, I still believe you should try to vary your Piracetam dosage before dropping back down to 1600mg simply because you might find a better sweet spot. Right now though it seems like 1600mg or even less is what works for you. Good luck.

edit: Don't bother using Galantamine and Hyperzine A together, as I've learned from others more read up on these two supplements. Choose either one or the other, if money is not an issue Galantamine might be better overall since it has multiple effects, aside from just being an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor.
