I'm afraid this thread is insufficiently visible to have some chance to win

How are we positionned compared to the top 10? I retain from the previous competitions that a good factor to win is to start fast and strong: having an impressive start limits the number of serious competitors and motivates more persons on our side: it is a question of perception of the chances to win. So the faster at the beginning the better; one trick is to prepare only such competitions when we are aware of them a priori before other competitors. Of course it is much easier said than done

There's no official leader board. However, based on what I've seen so far, at least 2k votes will likely be needed to win for each charity.

This contest is very exciting and it brings me goose bumps to think that there are so many non-profit charities geared towards stem cell and rejuvenation medicines! Also quite a number of Parkinson's ones.

See, if the VIP team could get a spokes celeb like Parkinson's did with Michael J. Fox we would literally create at least another 20 life extension anti aging sites! Not to mention publicity, publicity, publicity.

Ive got some kind of circuit melt down in my facebook continuing to give me endless loops. Luckily Fowler here, who I just chatted with in skype, wants to also take on the role of contacting causes, so he is going to do that tomorrow. In the mean time now, I can get back to contacting 500 people one by one to vote. Ive got 75 down so far, and we are still taking pledges.

Remember all, we are still looking for a twitter volunteer, and... I think there are a few others too but I forget at the moment.

And also remember, you can never be to busy to help not die.

I contacted about 150 more people today. Im going to continue working on special cases as I go too. When I see people with a blog, or whatever, I give them special info, your raw links page, etc... A few more people have joined us. Keep up the good fight. We are on our way.

Sorry have had lots on my plate, with this film thing. If someone could tell me what to say, to the creators, administrators, or whoever, I can start sending emails to various causes...but what's the best way to search for causes?

Unfortunately, two of the causes so far had no contact info, The American Aging Association, and the Sabrina Cohen foundation, Parkinson's Disease Research Society, and Stem Cell Cancer and Rej Medicine Research. The addresses are in the google doc.

I just got this email from Dave Goebel from Methuselah Foundation

"Hi Devon - I am going to try to contact the company that is running this program for Chase first thing tomorrow to see if they will give an indication of the numbers for the lower tier standing so we can see if this is truly practical. The Chase Facebook app has driven over 800,000 signups, and thus I sense that there is a real possibility that without further intel, we may be chasing an invisible rabbit. I DO appreciate your efforts in this regard and hope that we find out that it can be "Chased" successfully.

by the way if I had my way all the charities would focus on curing diseases...good to see pancreatic cancer up there, bet Swayze had some clout with that.

There seems to be some sort of communication breakdown regarding voting. Imminst and the MF are almost the only charities that are getting votes; the rest are stagnating. Perhaps, the two sections of the list should be combined to avoid any confusion and emphasize that people should vote for ALL of the listed charities.

I sent a message to 4,800 Imminst members/users, to 9 of the charities in our list of 20. Devon contacted most of the rest and we probably doubled up on some. I sent messages to 11 facebook causes each with 500 to 1000 members. BP alone has probably contacted a few hundred people. The message has easily reached 10,000 people, but we will have to wait and see what the return rate is on Monday when/if the causes and charities send out emails. If the message has hit 10,000 people, then we have approximately a 2% vote rate, which is hard to explain considering how passionate people claim they are about ending aging and striving for human enhancement. If only half of the Imminst members who got the message had voted, we might already be safely in the running.

So far, 1 of the causes has sent out a mass message - Yay for Joseph Henry and the Immortality cause page!

For the other 10, if they don't send out a message on Monday AND they don't reject us, then we should hit them up again on Tuesday.

Also, I think facebook is the best place to recruit since it is easier for facebook members to vote - just 2 clicks of the mouse. I suggest we search for more cause pages. Anything with 100 or more members would be worthwhile. Maybe there are Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Parkinson's cause pages. We need search out causes that share our enthusiasm. BP, Florin, Devon, Vgamer, Rwac, etc... if you could find a few more causes that will be great. I'll look around tomorrow as well.

I sent messages to most of the 2nd list that Florin outlined. Still only one group has sent a message out. We are climbing slowly, gaining traction, but we could use a few more ideas.

The Imminst December newsletter will go out tomorrow. I have highlighted the contest in the Newsletter. I was thinking about sending out a mass PM as well, but that might get to be annoying (3 mass messages in one week) - what do you guys think?

Since The NETWORK TRANSUMANISTI ITALIANI's mass email doesn't contain any links, I doubt we'll get a big boost from them.

If the newsletter doesn't have a significant affect on the number of votes, only then would I suggest another mass email.

I'd advise contacting Aubrey and the other causes and groups again. I don't see any other way to win without their help.

We'll need at least 1k votes to win. To be on the safe side, I'd prefer at least 2k.

It seems that the MF has the best chance to win. If they can keep up their momentum of several hundred votes per day (!), they'll easily win this contest. I wonder what strategy the MF is using to get so many votes with just a Wall post and no mass email. One Facebook user commented that the MF is paying some Facebook users to vote for it. I'm not sure if this is the case, but considering that they're not doing too much to promote this contest, that explanation isn't inconsistent with the amount of votes they're getting.
