JMS sounds like quite the visionary. Too bad he was so far ahead of his time. I'm not sure I like the idea of cyborg-izing ourselves, though. I don't think the 2 contrasting media could really have a robust future together. On the other hand, millions of women already stuff themselves full of silicone...

I have no doubt that the cyborg-izing trend will evolve out of both lifestyle and necessity. Some might argue that carrying a mobile phone or driving a car is enough to be considered a cyborg, but I think crossing that physical implant barrier will become more easy for the general public, when they se the hardcore transhumanists begin there transformation.

When the question comes to legislation, one can almost never guess what will happen. But, maybe the politicians will begin using implants and really need them to stay in power. That would change the world very fast.
