I've been taking Wellbutrin XL 150 MG's for a couple weeks, and I feel a lot of positive effects, however, I am having memory and thought issues. I feel like I am straining to think, and when I read I am having trouble processing everything. I also feel like my attention span is reduced.

I read online this is a common issue. I also read a few comments where people claimed Wellbutrin SR didn't cause this issue for them, it was switching the the XL that did it.

Can anyone comment on that?

Also, if this is a permaent side-effect, is Deprenyl the only other dopamine booster out there? - Modofinal, and ritalin had too many side-effects for me, so i have to exclude them, and I've been using tyrosine for a year, and felt nowhere as good as the wellbutrin made me feel

I use a number of different nootropics--relatively intense/strong ones--every day and switch from one to the next freely and suddenly given what I need to do for that day. Maybe it's related, but I occasionally end up with that same feeling of constantly forgetting, never retaining, not being impacted by anything around me for a whole good day. It's a little disconcerting, but I find it somewhat relaxing if the day is open anyways.

But I don't use Wellbutrin. I use the stronger racetams and deprenyl occasionally. Probably a similar cause, so I'd be interested to hear it.

I stopped the Wellbutrin and went back to Piracetam, and my cognitive functions and learning ability is back to normal within a few days.

Wellbutrin made me feel really good though.

I'm interested in the XL vs. SR, or an alternative now.

Before I tried Bupropion SR 150mg under the brand of ZYBAN ( same ingredient as Wellbutrin), I tried its cousin which has the same molecular structure and side effect profiles, that was called Diethylpropion.

Although both increases Dopamine in the brain, but Bupropion tends to make me feel "slow" in action and have a blunting effect to my brain, unlike Diethylpropion which is a diet pill.

Both reduce my appetite. Both tend to lower seizure thresholds. But Diethylpropion sharpened my memory.

For Dopamine boost, I tried Aurorix ( Moclobemide) which is a Reversible inhibitor of mono amine type A, which inhibits the deamination of Serotonin and Noradrenaline in the dose below 150mg.

In the dose above 300mg, it loses its selectivity, so it also inhibits the breakdown of Dopamine and PEA.

600mg is the recommended highest dose/day in MIMS Australia.

With this dose, it inhibits the breakdown of Serotonin,Noradrenaline,Dopamine,PEA........ and 10mins after I chewed the tablets I felt calm and very euphoric, but it has no stimulant nor sedative properties.

According to MIMS, it increases the sleep quality.

The effect last for 2 hours, the inhibition of the catecholamines is reversed within 24 hours.

To me, this is better than Wellbutrin.
