I've read case studies of psychiatrists using nootropic agents like Piracetam as an adjunct form of therapy without any incident. To be sure, though, I would either conduct a PubMed search, or discuss your interest in nootropics with your psychiatrist. Whatever your finding, I would tread carefully, because Piracetam's unique mechanism of action has been reported to provoke manic episodes.

I have tried hyperdoses of piracetam with an SSRI (cipralex) and felt absolutely nothing. I'm sure most people would respond differently to the combo though.

I'm not a fan of Piracetam, but I didn't notice any adverse effects while using it on an SSRI (20mg Lexapro) compared to off the SSRI.
