I take this:

More expensive than some others, but the potency is huge (500mg EPA + 250mg DHA for 1000mg). I don't like the idea of having a lot of filler in my fish oil, as I feel I'm just taking extra random trash fats. Is this view justified?

I take Krill Oil and a tbsp of ground flax seed daily (moderate additional n3 from other non-animal sources such as walnuts as well).

Despite what some have said, I *am* concerned about Mercury in Fish Oil as well as optimal absorption. Krill is low on the food chain and I figure it's a safer bet than fish oil.

Krill oil is yet to be fully studied for its beneficial advantages. There’s really no need to worry about mercury in fish oil if the capsules contain fish oil that has been molecularly distilled. Consumer Lab did some testing on leading fish oil supplements and found that none of them contained mercury. There were some brands that didn’t quite make the grade because the amounts of DHA and EPA did not match label specifications or the capsule did not dissolve as it should, but the actual fish oil was pure and free contaminants.

I have tried several brands of fish oil supplements, including Kirkland, but I did not like the fishy refluxes. I kept repeating it and it made me very uncomfortable. Can anyone suggest any fish oil supplement that does not cause this?

I recently came across a forum which talked about Kirkland fish oil supplements. The irate user was telling people not to buy Kirkland’s enteric coated fish oil capsules as it contained sorbitol. She was feeling sick because of this. Here’s the link in case you’re interested: http://www.healingwe...u...8&m=1437438.

I use a triple strength fish oil supplement called "Triple Strength Omega 3". It contains pharmaceutical grade fish oil, and is enteric coated. I don’t experience any fishy after burps. It contains 2000 mg of omega 3 fatty acids, out of which 800 mg is EPA and 400 is DHA. That’s a good ratio (2:1) to take.

I think your doctor meant for you to be taking 2-3g of Fish Oil, not get 2-3 grams of omega-3 EFAs specifically. 2-3 (or even 4) grams fish oil would be within current medical practice for lipid issues.

I take that much for its anti-inflammatory properties, not so much for lipid issues.

Current LEF recommendations (for what they are worth) are 1.4 gm EPA, 1.0 gm DHA per day, which works out to exactly 4 of their high concentration caps, go figure.

i think you might have "worked out" that in vice-versa to suit your own point of view, buddy ;) lol
