I've read a bit more about this and it seems the R-isomer of Modafinil is even better than the original Modafinil. It might have something to do with having a higher bioavailability versus the regular Modafinil. Honestly though I don't see why these are controlled drugs in the US, hopefully scientific data will supercede politics in pushed this off the controlled drug status. Based on someone's observation on the rec.smart.drugs newsgroup it seems that Modafinil is on hold for a controlled drug status in Canada, meaning it isn't technically a controlled drug here YET (if ever).
