Some other brain-enhancing exercises are:
1.Lie on the floor on your back and examine your surroundings from this unusual perspective
2. Read a magazine that you don't usually read
3. Read a newspaper holding it upside down (and then hold it in front of a mirror and read from the mirror image)
4. Listen to a foreign language radio station and try to guess the general meaning of the programme
5. Watch the news on TV and repeat immediately what the newscaster has just said (5 minutes)
6. Think of 5 uncommon uses of a common item (in less than a minute)
6. Try to think of more such exercises

A quirky but great list! I think variety & variation is the key, the more different ways of thinking and using your brain the better...

Thanks for the link OP, the perfect piece to a send to a friend who has just inquired about my recent interest in brain enhancement/nootropics

Yes, the key to brain enhancement through exercises is constant variety and stimulation. Routine and boredom are lethal to brain development, and encourage brain aging.
