I don't like Acetly-cholinesterase inhibitors much. I think I've seen some negative studies on the matter, but I'd have to search for them... I'd be worried about any long-term down-regulation.

Instead I just use CDP-choline and Alpha-GPC. CDP is somewhat self-potentiating, as in... it increases receptor density (or something similar), thereby increasing sensitivity to itself.

I wouldn't use a heavy dose of choline while on Galantamine or Huperzine.

4mg twice a day. I also happen to take Lexapro which slows its clearance. I think it makes me feel a bit "sharper" - more perceptive. I'm not sure about memory. I always take it which a choline source.

hmm well i'd only be using it once a week at most, there can't be too much harm, can there?

yeah i would be taking 4mg with 200mg choline (it's in a pill together), i think i'll try it out then, thanks for the info, would taking piracetam increase the effects at all? or should i just stick with galantamine alone.

I just opened a bottle of Galantamine last night and took one 8mg capsule to see what happens. I felt more alert and sharp, usually I get tired and "foggy" at night. I'd say it could be of benefit when studying...

I've seen some mention of galantamine being subtly motivating. Would be interested to hear if anyone notices in this context.

I suppose I'd be comfortable with that. It does seem to work (I've tried it - worked short-term). You still shouldn't take high doses of choline with it.

Edit: I can't seem to find any of the negative studies I THOUGHT I saw previously. I did find this discussion (on huperzine) in which member Dopamine suggests ACh (and NE, DA) receptor downregulation: http://www.imminst.o...?showtopic=5072 - I'd need more research to draw any conclusions.

According to LifeMirage, galantamine may not cause receptor desensitization or down regulation. http://www.imminst.o...&...ost&p=86089

4 Hours after taking, i'm currently on 4mg galantamine, 400mg choline, 1600mg piracetam and 700mg L-Tyrosine (added in a few hours after first taking to try and get rid of a small brainfog).
I feel very relaxed, quite sick feeling, a bit sleepy, dizzy, slightly improved focus and almost no thoughts (too relaxed) which is defnitely a mood improved as i feel nothing haha, i will be doing more work this afternoon as i've done little today. i think i reacted weirdly too it and will try it without any piracetam soon... will try ALCAR now at around 500mg to see if that does anything.
this would be good if it wasn't for the dizziness and over relaxation, i need more focus and mental energy .___. i guess nothing can compare to ritalin;(

Rain: why is it you've been taking choline along with your galantamine? I imagine that this would have more capacity to cause adverse reactions than piracetam. Maybe just try it by itself for a while, and then with piracetam?

"you've been taking" i've taken twice only, with only the second time being today. as i said above it's a galantamine 4mg + 200mg choline capsule. i can only take it with choline, i just added more because i was having piractam. im sure the small amount of choline in it won't be doing that much, would it?
and i got quite tired later i the day after ALCAR (never taking again), arghhhh, so not helpful, and did very little. sighhh:( but maybe i will try next time without the piracetam

You said "4 Hours after taking, i'm currently on 4mg galantamine, 400mg choline, 1600mg piracetam and 700mg L-Tyrosine" - no wonder you got brain fog!! That's way too much. You should just stick with 8mg galantamine, 800 mg pira and maybe 500 mg Tyrosine but I'd eliminate the choline for sure.

Sorry, missed that post. What brand is this, out of curiosity? I think the choline probably shouldn't be doing that much, but as you're having adverse or paradoxical reactions to so many nootropics, it can't be ruled out.

It's from a Lucid Dreaming Site haha, but it was the cheapest and easiest way i could buy it (that i found), Dream Admins i think?
I think ill definitely have to try it without piracetam first. After i posted that, for the next few hours i felt really different, like a complete changed personality and just different. It was unusual hehe, maybe i shouldn't be taking so many additional things with something i've tried .___.

Sorry to revive this old thread, how would galantamine and L-tyrosine go together? is this a bad combo or could it be potentially good?
(just need mental energy as i get tired quite quickly from studying)

You get tired quickly from studying? That makes two of us....I've had good luck with PEA and Rhodila taken at the same time, somehow it makes me very focused and alert.

The galantamine didn't do s*** for me, it's probably good for already sick people with Alzheimers but not adults who just want to get an edge.

I also find that alcar with l-tyrosine, and some R-ALA work wonders. Good luck!

I don't think there's anything obviously wrong with this in terms of conflicting mechanism. But there could still be some drawbacks, as these both can have some undesirable sides in certain people. Start low?

ooo i've never heard of PEA or Rhodila before i don't think so perhas i'll look into it soon (not now as i've bought too much recently).
hmm i found the alcar makes me very tired so i try to avoid it. maybe i'll try tyrosine+alcar though, but im not sure itll really help.

ah okay cool as long as there isn't any interractions, i'll dry a NALT combo (more potent tyrosine) with 4mg soon and see how it goes!

sorry for double posting since i can't edit but just curious

Runner- " PEA and Rhodila taken at the same time, somehow it makes me very focused and alert. " What doses of each do you take? How long does the effects last for? Do you take it with anything else?
How is PEA by itself? I realised it's not too expensive from this store nearby but Rhodiola is quite expensive.

Sorry for the delay but it was finals week :) Anyway, I get PEA 500 mg capsules from SmartPowders (PrimaForce brand) and Standardized Rhodiola Extract from Puritan's Pride (it's the strongest & cheapest source) 8 mg of 3% rosavins and, 3 mg (1%) salidrosides. I take one of each on an empty stomach in the morning and then again as needed but max 3 caps of PEA in a day. The effects lasts approx 1-2 hr, and are stronger if you drink black coffee with it.

PEA by itself gives you a buzz and the effects last approx. 15 minutes so that's why people take Deprenyl or in my case, Rhodiola, to prolong the effects. Just be careful and start with a low dose....
