DDT infiltrates into the water ways and eventually into the oceans, where it then passess through the food chain (i.e. from fish to fish) and in doing so becomes increasingly more concentrated, and are we not at the end of this food chain? Hence, everyone that eats fish also ingests DDT!

I agree that DDT got a bad rap. The number of lives saved by DDT is probably greater than all other public health measures excluding chlorination.
