Hi, Gentlemen:

In my prior post, I mentioned I was prescribed Provigil and will switch to cheaper Nuvigil.

My doctor just prescribed me 150 mg Nuvigil for my ADD yesterday. But, she is very surprised to learn that last time my insurance company paid $ 300 for my $ 400 prescription on 30 day supply Provigil.

She said because modafinil is FDA-approved for narcolepsy, not for ADD. Her prescription on Provigil or Nuvigil is considered off-label use of the medicine. And most insurance company do not cover off-label use of medicine. Is she all right on this? I'm on BCBS right now. Is it possible that some insurance company will allow modafinil prescription for ADD?

Thanks for your takes on this....
