I made a blog :) It is mostly about Game Development as I am making a game, but it has (or at least, will have) other stuff too. I already promised to put some things related to trans-humanism in the first post.

Here is the link to the blog, which I think will show the last post first:
http://shaneediary.wordpress.com/

And here is the link to the first post:
http://shaneediary.w...irst-blog-post/

And comment and suggestion will be appreciated :)

Thank you Shadowhawk :)

I actually just finished editing the new post I had about The Settlers, you might have read it while it was still in the works as I revised it with Mimi :)

I will write about it later tonight if I have the time.. I have an exam tomorrow and the day after @@..

But for short: Dynamically generated atmosphere, enabling day-night cycle, also have moon and stars at night, beautiful sunsets and sunrises.

We added terrain level of detail which allows us to render huge (potentiality infinite once we finish all the code for it) sized landscapes with far far view without reducing performance, speed and quality.

Here is the first prototype photo:

Posted Image

Still quite a bit to do to finish it but the main point is there.

It works by splitting the terrain into segments which have lower level and according to distance and "error" calculation you choose which level of detail to render in real time.

It will also stream data from the hard-drive in a thread and blend between the levels as you move in the terrain, allowing you to go across an infinitely sized world without a loading screen.

This videos shows only some of the concepts of the algorithm: (this isn't our video)

Was just testing it a bit :) Generated a 16 square kilometer sized land in maybe 30 seconds on debug mode (on release it will take maybe 5 seconds then)

This is so much fun :) Still need to fix texturing, saving, loading and steaming and then just editing is left and yay! :)

Well, it can implement storyline concepts to spread acceptance of anti-aging and immortality!

Also, 3D engine could be used for simulations of.. whatever, especially with physics applied.

But hey, it is in the unrelated forums ;)

Edit: Be original! I am sure there is a way, even if not a direct one (simulations or helper) then at least by advocating and money raising :) If Blizzard gave just 1% of the money it makes per year for Anti Aging Research I think that would be quite a bit...

Why would you want to fix a hole in the sky?? That could have been some great game content.

*****Secret hiding place.....Hole in the sky!!!!!!!!******

I would love to go into a whole in the sky if I had the chance.

Too late! I fixed it!!!

But I can always put one back.. or even billboards of black holes :)

I wonder if the interworking team could use the Mimi-Luna Engine in some way?

Had quite a long break from programming as I was adjusting to my new job and heavy university schedules but I got new stuff to show today :)

Showing the finally finished new terrain editing as I needed to re-do that (creating hills, mountains and forging the landscape) as I changed to a new and better landscape system I described before that can support kilometers and far view distance: (Oh, also showing a cow, sorta)

And here I started working on the object placement and manipulation system, I can place objects from the list and move them around the world, rotate them, scale them etc!

got trees and geometry instancing (technique allowing to render the same model n times without slowing down the program) to work!

Also particles added to the editor (can see kinda fire particle in the first photo)

Did you program the world editor yourselves? It looks pretty professional.

Decided to start making a web site for the game.. a task I am probably least skilled for :)

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a cheap webhost and domain that can also accommodate a forum and wordpress blog. Has to be quite cheap but relatively good speed if possible. EU based is a preference.

Other than that I guess it is time for me to work on a web template! :)
