Many thanks to all who donated to enable the forum upgrade!
See all donations here.

This was the first outing for the 'donation tracker' module in the sidebar.

Our first fundraising goal was to pay for the recent forum upgrade. Within little more than a week we managed to raise the ~$200 that we paid for software. Naturally, not included in this is the many man-hours that went into the upgrade (and the work is no were near finished).

This was also a test into how good the system works and also testing the generosity of our community. The results are a bit skewed since the largest donation ($60 – 30% of the target goal) was donated by an ImmInst Director, who is already more than busy with ImmInst volunteer activities first and foremost organising the 2010 conference – thanks David. But even without contributions from ImmInst leadership, we still managed to raise a fair amount and the system has performed well.

This is encouraging, as the next fundraiser will likely be a much larger affair: the first contender for the 2010 science research project.

Meanwhile, if you have any views or suggestions on how we can make fundraisers more attractive and efficient, please share them here. And don't hesitate to clap for those who donated already.

That was very inspiring. The system seems to be over flowing with potential. Now on that business of multiple fundraisers at once, if we can do that, well, that could be monumental in moving on to the next stages of growth. Ideally, if we can embed a box like that new widget in every fundraiser page, then it looks like it would amplify the effectiveness of each one.
