Warning over fish mercury levels (excerpts)

Posted Image

Mercury is found in some marlin, swordfish and tuna

Eating certain types of fish can increase the risks of having a heart attack, a study suggests.

A team of international researchers has found a direct link between mercury and heart disease.

High levels of mercury are found in shark, swordfish, king mackerel and marlin. It is also found at lower levels in fresh or frozen tuna.

The researchers have suggested that people should consider eliminating fish with high mercury levels from their diet.

The UK's Food Standards Agency recently advised pregnant women and children against eating this type of fish.

There are fears that mercury can damage the nervous system of unborn infants and can increase the risks of poisoning in young children.

I've heard about this problem too, Bob. I don't eat much tuna, anymore, but I have increased my salmon intake. I suppose the only downside to salmon, canned or fresh, is that it is fairly expensive, when compared to other fish. On the bright side, I have noticed that I literally FEEL better mere moments after eating salmon. Omega-3 fattyacids aside, I'm sure more appearance-conscious people (women especially) would eat salmon more often, if they knew what it could do for their skin. Apparently, one of the latest "Crazes" is the "Salmon diet". Salmon, salad, and olive oil, 3 times a day for 3 days.......Perhaps this diet would satisfy the "Supermodel concerns" of skin & weight, rather than the coffee & cigarette diet, which makes you thinner, (too thin, of course) but wrecks your skin......among other things. lol lol lol lol

Limitless,

The last I have read, they are still putting mercury in vaccinations.

I take the Omega-3 fattyacids in capsules along with food. Normally, I eat a lot of raw fruits and vegetables. I have gotten away from that a little too much lately and feel it (negative feeling). [ph34r]

I used to smoke and drink coffee. I loved doing both. :D I haven't smoked in over 20 years and maybe have a cup of coffee every two-three months.

Exercising 3-5 times a week keeps the weight down, but :(

Anyway, I need to return to the good habits that I recently go out of. ;)
