" Is Manganese the solution?? " , the thread from another forum :

http://www.socialanx...solution-70691/

Recently I ordered some of these supplements like Manganese, Zinc, Vit.P5P, Magnesium Glycinate... I would like to know, how do I use them ?

What size dose should I take?

What combination of these supplements do you suggest ?

Do you think is it safe to take one 20mg dose of Manganese every day ?

thanks.

I have a few posts near the end of that thread with some good info about the effect of manganese on dopamine, and a brief review of the neurotoxicity.

To answer your question, I don't think there's enough data to say if 20mg for a long time is potentially harmful. If I were to guess, I'd say it's not going to have much neurotoxicity at that dose, but OTOH it's not impossible. Partly because of these concerns, and partly due to the potential for downregulation, I stopped using it every day. Now I'll take 20mg on days when I want a slight dopamine boost; maybe once a week?

You could try 20mg to see if it even has any effect for you, but personally I wouldn't be entirely comfortable supplementing more than 10mg every day.

Those other vitamins and minerals have threads here, that could probably give you better info than I can quickly. Our google search box is gone atm, but you can still use it by adding site:imminst.org to a google search.

Or maybe Lefega (the author of that thread on SAS) will be able to give you a better summary of how those others can impact SA.

i noticed a mild dopamine increase from 20mg. nice. i'm reluctant to do it daily myself. i once tried it it combo with SAMe+TMG with splendid results, but this also could be due to the the SAMe alone (versus possibly synergism) - any thoughts? also, i wonder if 20mg of manganese would effect sleep if taken later in the day. anybody find a good regimen of manganese or other dopamine-boosting supps without having issues with tolerance and dependence?

It looks like selenium might have implications in social anxiety. I've been using with surprisingly good results lately.

By the way, manganese works by inhibiting MAO's and increasing catecholamines. Copper had the opposite effect and made me depressed and avoidant. B6 increases GABA production. I'm not sure how Zinc comes into play in all this but it might be through Testosterone production maybe ?

Selenium is the new guy in town though

Lufega, how is your social anxiety at present? Have selenium/manganese remained effective?

Anyone else, have you had sustained results with either of these?
