Hi,

I am a newb with Nootropics, but they have started to benefit my life recently. I'd like to thank this community for all of the discussions that I have read so far. They have guided me a lot while beginning to research into this stuff.

My question is, are there any nootropics that have been proven to help with healing scar tissue and serve dammage? On December 15th I had a septo-rhinoplasty surgery (over 8 months ago) that has left my nose with a light-moderate chronic sore feeling. I'd compare it to getting hit in the nose with something hard and healing up 60% of the way. When I smile it feels as though I have to work harder to achieve it. I've seen my ENT about this several times and he mentioned that it could take 1-2 years to heal nerve damage or scar tissue. I currently use a neti, mixed oils, and other stuff to medicate it, but the stiffness and sore feeling get very distracting. If there are also nootropics that work well with pain/sore-feeling any suggestions would be excellent.

Thanks for everything so far either way!

I don't know about "proven" but you can always try the proteolytic enzyme Serrapeptase and see if that heals your scar tissue.

Serrapeptase has been used as an anti-inflammatory agent in the treatment of:

* Chronic sinusitis
* To improve the elimination of bronchopulmonary secretions
* Traumatic injury (e.g. sprains and torn ligaments)
* Post-operative inflammation
* To facilitate the therapeutic effect of antibiotics in the treatment of infections
* Cystitis and epididymitis

This sounds exactly like what I'm looking for!

Although Wikipedia cites the studies done have been poor, "Of the 10 medical conditions with randomized-evidence studies on file in connection with serratiopeptidase, trial quality was described as "generally poor"". I see your point how it hasn't obtained solid proof yet.

This still looks like it could be promising and I am going to give it a shot. Thanks so much!

From what I have read, Lion's Mane has been used by some people to successfully regain feeling in areas affected by nerve damage. Like most things it's not for everyone, but if regaining normal sensation in that area is what you are looking for, it might we worth a try. Some have said to have felt effects within a week and other a few months...
