What the Bleep Do We Know!?

Saw it.. like it.. but felt the answers given about 'god' were wrong as they violate Occam's Razor. The world just is.. we are just here.. there doesn't have to be an overarching entity taking care of things.

But it's understandable, as the physicists interviewed see death as inevitable and have come to create acceptable (to them) afterlife scenarios = god.

Otherwise, the movie was excellent in helping me to visualize what's happening in our brains and at the quantum level.

The movie deceived Ebert, too:

"While the film "What the #$*! Do We Know!?" parades itself as a tell-all about quantum physics, it turns out that it's actually a 111-minute infomercial for ... that's right, the Ramtha School of Enlightenment. In fact, the three filmmakers, [William] Arntz, [Betsy] Chasse and [Mark] Vicente, are all devotees of Ramtha."

Yes, basically it's a bunch of nonsense - falls into the same category as the Natural Law party mystics. People who are trying to dress their mysticism up by mangling science they don't understand into interesting-sounding rubbish.

hmm... Should I expect to hear undertones of this Ramtha school of thought in this video?

I've never heard of this group before, until now.

edit: perhaps I have heard of this group... I seem to remember another reference to it from somewhere else.

Well, I certainly didn't like that film. It seemed too puerile.

I saw it in a packed theater and HATED it. The title is dead on or it could have been called, "We had some scientists tell us stuff and bleeped up the interpretation of it." They gave you the intro to a quantum text and then made stuff up, same thing with biochemistry.

Me and my girlfriend walked out of the theatre after about 15 minutes.

Mmmm, BJ, went back and read all the posts here including your first. I don't recall a reliance on the existence of "god" in the film. I thought it was dragged out a bit but did touch upon some real science that I believe is better conveyed in that BBC documentary of the Horizon series entitled "Parallel Universes." Basically if you cater to the string theory idea you may have to face the possibility that universe is completely dynamic and maybe what has been will come around again ad infinitum. This alone I believe explains why sometimes a person who claims to be channeling information actually seems to come up with some cognizant new observations beyond just chance. Since a great many of humanity have succumbed to some depiction of universe and existence as linear the prospects of a completely dynamic view appear magical or mystical just as advanced science can seem the same. Consider, not all things that appear as mystical or magical are necessarily erroneous.

One could have come to have sort of a vested interest in rather linear thinking. It happens.

Didn't know until researching it afterwards that it is a promo film for Ramtha. What a waste of time and money... [ang]

Never see this movie unless you want to know how these people think, the way they explain QM is more confusing that it is informative, this WILL hurt your understanding of it.
