Not sure how many people read natural news, but there is a write up on FDA censorship just today 9/9/10 - http://www.naturalne...orship_FDA.html - .
Interesting article! As someone who spends a huge amount of time trying to figure out what conclusions can be drawn from scientific studies, I agree that no one should be able to make definitive claims like "curcumin will cure Alzheimer's." But not allowing vendors to link to studies showing benefits of supplements really is more censorship than protection. Cerebral Health had an issue with this earlier in the year, regarding research about galantamine and Alzheimer's.
But it's a complex situation, and the FDA is a monster of our own creation. As a society, we demand an 'auto mechanic' model of health care, where a doctor 'fixes' us and acts as a conduit of approved health advice. This raises the cost for drug design and marketing to unbelievable levels, and creates the economic and political climate wherein the pharmaceutical industry has such huge sway over the FDA. It's a vicious cycle at this point.
Hopefully the demand for lower cost of healthcare will be able to break the cycle, and lead to more reasonable implementation of the drug pipeline, and FDA control of health information.
