I have periodontal disease. About a year ago I got my pocket depths; a couple of 7s and a few 4s & 5s. Do you think I should have them use the periodontal probe again at my upcoming dental appointment? Can I just use x-rays instead to see if the periodontal disease is progressing? I ask because I worry that the use of the probe itself, even in skilled hands, could potentially damage the gum tissue. Why insert something in between your gum and teeth? That is exactly the gap that we are trying to close.
What do you think?
