The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) funded research to create a Cyborg beetle that is remote controlled. Below is the link and a video (There is more videos on the link as well):

Even though I know the thing's brain is but a small nerve cluster; I still feel sorry for the little guy. It's bad enough being born a beetle.
