I have been taking Vyvanse 60mg since January of 2009, and was just about to post on this same topic until I found this thread. I don't know how long you guys have been taking it but the only reason I even found my way to this forum and the subject of nootropics is because of my noticeable decline in memory and verbal fluency lately.
I didn't think much of it, or even consider that I might be having cognitive memory function problems until it got to the point that I would forget things my girlfriend would say from just a few hours earlier - or even in the same sentence.. and this was supposed to be on a strong dose of medication to make my ADD BETTER! My words just don't come out fluidly anymore, I forget them so often while talking that it frustrates me so much and I know can cause people to lose interest when I'm pausing and over-describing something when I can't think of the right word. I also knew I had to do something when I started noticing a lot more social inhibitions and being way less outgoing when I wasn't on Vyvanse, which bumps up those attributes 100 times.
So after some research, I think it's because of long-term use of Vyvanse. A quick search on Wikipedia on the subject shed some light on it, so I'm considering taking Synaptine Ultra to help combat these aggravating side effects. I don't wanna stop taking Vyvanse because it's been an absolute life changer, but at the cost of cognitive functions... so I want to try and balance things out a little more.
Morpheus- I will say this, I strongly recommend ALWAYS taking it on a full stomach. Your focus coming in waves and it being hit or miss, is 100% because of diet, I know this from experience. It's not gonna make it past lunchtime if you take it on an empty stomach, because without the natural boost from food to your body's amino acids it's a LOT less likely to re-enter your bloodstream and last as long. You're basically losing out on half its long-term potential. I know it's supposed to be 12 hour time-release, but trust me on this!
I also don't think taking it with coffee is generally a good idea, it could be the reason for your random bouts of panic. Amphetamines are strong stimulants, and caffeine is a stimulant as well, so you could be overdosing on stimulants. I'm now pretty much allergic to caffeine (I know, it SUCKS!) and used to have really bad anxiety for a while but ever since taking Vyvanse, anxiety is completely gone. Try taking it a couple hours after you've had coffee and see if that helps the panics (it'll also keep you alert a lot longer as opposed to all at once!)
How long have you guys been taking Vyvanse? I am admittedly a unique case.. I usually take Vyvanse in the middle of the day, late afternoon as opposed to first thing in the morning. I also have found a TON of ways to supplement it to prolong its effects during the day, PM me if you're interested.
