Due to abuse of the private messaging system the maximum number of messages a registered user can send has been limited to currently 2 per day.

Members can still send unlimited messages.

If you are helping with a project and this restriction interferes with your work please talk to the team coordinator or send an email to support@imminst.org.

I would have to say that a 2 message limit would make having a conversation of any sort hard.
Perhaps 5 or 10 would be more reasonable.

Given the recent abuse, I think this is a needed step. If they really want to talk more, they can email and continue outside the forum, if both parties are willing.,

I agree that 2/day is a good choice for new users. At some point in a user's tenure, it would be nice to raise the amount, perhaps after 50 posts, or something like that. By the time a user has a reasonable posting history, it's not likely they'll become PM spammers. We want to walk the line between building a community which includes both members and users, and preventing that community from being abused by PM spammers.

I'm just finding this post from a search because I keep getting this awful...

Oops! Something went wrong!

You have sent the maximum number of private messages per day that the administrator allows.

My thoughts:

1 - I'm a friendly person and am making heaps of friends here. This PM limit sucks balls.
2 - I understand why its implemented, to stop people creating accounts and spamming. Understandable and accepted.
3 - I wish I had a membership so this restriction wasn't in place. Why do I keep spending my money on more nootropics and never buy the membership?
4 - It would be more conducive to building a community if after a person had a lot of posts or thankyou points or a moderator saw they were a real person and not a spammer that the ban could be lifted!
5 - I mean this guy niner: 11,645 posts and 1,311 ₮ - he should totally have the restriction lifted.
6 - And that gray.bot guy. He's really cool and should have the restriction lifted as well.
7 - Also people who search instead of creating new posts that are just fricken repeats of stuff, them peoples should be shot.
8 - If the restriction wasn't in place I wouldn't be hear posting this - think of the benefits...

The 2 PM per day limit is a horrible thing at least for members with a longer post history...

Given the recent abuse, I think this is a needed step. If they really want to talk more, they can email and continue outside the forum, if both parties are willing.,

These 2 Pm don't even let you enough normal introductory conversation to take place before exchanging emails... And only with ONE single person per day!!

We haven't had any PM spam for a while- if we can't raise the limit for users with a decent post count, could we raise it for everyone, like maybe to 5? If we get any abuse, we could always revert to 2, but this does seem like a problem for some of our users.

Hmm, you seem to be a Registered User.
Have you made a membership donation?
If so, you should look at this thread: http://www.longecity...thing-happened/
