Is Mirtazapine a nicotinic antagonist like Bupropion?

I'm asking because I'm using a nicotine patch and feeling theraputic effects from it, but I'm under sleeping and not having quality sleep so I'm thinking of adding in Mirtazapine but I don't want to offset the positives I'm feeling from nicotine

No, it's not. If you really need to a nicotine fix I recommend an ecigarette. Check out e-cigarette-forum.com and liberty-flights.com.

Though, this might not lead to quitting, if that's your goal. If you want to quit nicotine altogether, your just gonna have to wait it out.

No, it has no afinity for muscarnic acetylcholine or nicotonic acetylcholine receptors.

As far as I know, there haven't been any definitive literature findings on the interaction with Mirtazapine and the nAchRs, whose expression is partially mediated by the 5ht3 receptor that it antagonizes. However, it does through a compensatory mechanism reverse scopolamine induced learning impairments, which suggests an upregulation of muscarinic receptors. I know Tropisetron at least upregulates the a7 nAchR site, but I think it's alone in the class of antiemetics. So if you continue with the nicotine, you'll probably get the more cognitively desirable effect of modulation.
