He would never allow himself to go broke and not be able to afford his expensive treatments..
But thinking more about it, i don't think that kurzweil is THAT rich, but he could still make some generous donations to mmp. The question is, why apparently he doesn't believe in it very much.

Kurzweil is a "progress in the cloud" kind of guy. He believes progress by the masses is highly predictable, but progress by specific entities is not. Perhaps he is investing to make the "cloud" more efficient. His books could be regarded in that manner, because information makes the whole world better with little costs, but targeted investments have much less potential in the middle to long run.
