Appaerently a company tries to make money by storing blood samples, claiming that they contain some miracle stem cell:

http://www.telegraph...for-adults.html

Quote:

"The service uses cells known as blastocyst-like stem cells that are found circulating in human blood. These are unspecialised cells that can develop into many different types of tissue in the body."

"These cells are pre-differentiated and so have the potential to become many different cell types in the body. So far we have developed 90 different cell types from these stem cells."

They also claim that those cells are distinct from normal blood or bone marrow stem cells. I thought that I am fairly knowledgable about stem cells, but I never heard of those kind of cells before. Could anyone provide some information or a viable internet link about those? At the moment it simply sounds like a fraud.

they are no miracle stem cells
it is true that blood contain hemopoetic stem cells but they are not the best (telomers!)
but maybe if you collect some over years they can be of some use, mostly bone marrow transplant

"blastocyte like stem cells" ---> another name for stem cells that are slightly differentiated.
