Study showing it prevented and reversed obesity in rats: http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/15862604

From Wiki: "This effect is reported to stem from the alteration of lipid metabolism, increasing norepinephrine-induced lipolysis."
The keyword I am interested in is "Norepinephrine", because this is a key neurotransmitter in mental energy. Various body builders report that it also causes a warm feeling similar to hot peppers. I'm looking for studies, interpretations of studies, and experiences. My question is simple:

Does raspberry ketone at a normal (about 100mg) dose enhance focus?

This is the only post that mentions that word. Are you talking about the Russian Ma Huang supplement? That's just ephedra in a bottle. A little off topic, but I see where you are going with that. I'm not really interested in losing weight the easy way. I enjoy dieting and acting better than people when they offer me food. I wanted to know if raspberry ketone was effective for increased concentration.

However, ephedra is not a bad way to activate your adrenic receptors, if that's what you need. There are just some legal issues with marketing the product in the USA.

Pretty sure it's peripheral only.

Ketones in general readily cross the blood brain barrier. They are small and uncharged. They are actually used as an alternative source of fuel for this reason during low carb diets. The only difference is that the raspberry ketone has a phenyl ring towards one end. I believe ketones are fatty acids, so crossing BBB isn't an issue.

However, it does antagonize androgen receptors... meaning my balls, muscles, and generally manliness could shrink unless my body compensates with more receptors or more testosterone. (http://www.anthonyro...tor-antagonist/). I missed that one before. I suppose it would work for females but now I'm not interested. It's IC50 value is 252uM, which is about 248mg in 6L. 100mg would inhibit about 20% of my receptors if 50% went in my blood stream... obviously this is speculation and the diffusion would cause nothing to be near the 20% effectiveness. It's just the idea that I don't like.

I dont know about the focus, but you can search Swedish pages with google translate to see if it has any of the attributes that you are looking for.

Personally I think you should waste your money on something else.

I've read up on it a bit more. If I am feeling adventurous one day, looking for money to blow, I may give raspberry ketone a shot, but not without some testosterone booster like stinging nettle or an aromatase inhibitor.
