Hello again everyone! I am glad to say that nootropics has done some pretty neat stuff for me thus far. I eagerly wait to take them everyday. I wake up in a much more energetic and better mood. I feel as though people I am comfortable with I can just speak without even thinking its pretty cool. But thats just the thing, with people I am comfortable with. Still when I hang with new people at parties and whatnot, I feel somewhat distant still. Im not depressed about it whatsoever, I would just like to address this problem. I started taking nootropics in order to increase my memory. But I have come to realize, that cutting down on smoking marijuana, exponentially increases my memory. Kind of funny huh :P . I also just wanted to be more knowledgeable in general. I have decided though, that if my social life is strong and well, it will equate to me being happier, and thus getting better grades. Heres my stack as of right now.

Piracetam 1000mg 2 times a day
Choline Citrate 1000mg 1 time a day
Fish Oil 1000mg 1 time a day
Ginko Biloba 60mg 2 times a day
Acetyl L-Carnitine 500mg 1 time a day
Lions Mane Mushroom 300mg 1 time a day

Thats it. I have felt wonderful everyday taking these. Is there anything I should drop, to help more with social anxiety? Or anything I should add? I would like the most effective stack possible. I am solely interested in anxiolytic properties. Thank you for all your help!

Lucas

I once cured a friend of stage fright with rhodiola rosea. He was being passed over for promotion in his company, repeatedly, because he couldn't bring himself to open his mouth and express an opinion in company meetings

I put him on rhodiola rosea, which at the time was a pretty new supplement from Russia - I had bought some bulk from the only exporter at the time - make up capsules and gave them to him.

I dunno if it was just placebo or really the r. rhosea, but he told me that all of a sudden he didn't have any reluctance to speak up anymore, and he quickly got a big promotion.

Go figure.

Your symptoms sound a lot like mine but I am afraid I cannot really point you to a killer stack for that.

In any case, as for anxiety, any of Magnesium, Holy Basil, Bacopa and Ashwaghanda might be worth a try. In fact, as many people are deficient in Magnesium, that's probably a good idea anyway.

And if you do not already get sufficient B vitamins (although its highly disputed just what is enough in this area), that's another one to look into, especially Niacinamide.

Depending on how much this bothers you, there are obviously also other options like SSRIs and benzodiazepines but from the sound of it that seems a rather excessive in your case.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine is a great energy booster but makes me feel rather nervous. It is definetly worsening my social phobia. Have you tried losing this one for a few days?

edit: also Aniracetam at 500mg makes me more social and outgoing.

How much ALCAR are you taking? After 4 weeks I am starting to wonder if it does much of anything (good or bad), really...

Another thought: oxytocin, snorted intranasally, has been shown to increase social behavior in autistic kids. You can get oxytocin on the web; dissolve it in saline, at say 50 mcg per 0.1 ml, use an insulin syringe, fill to 10 units (same as 0.1 ml), break off the needle by bending back and forth, then press plunger at same time breathe in sharply through nostril. Absorption by blood capillaries in the nasal mucosa and especially the upper nares, plus direct absorption into the brain via the olfactory nerve at the cribiform plate, and you might find that works marvels. I have not been able to find any literature that even hints that this might carry any potential for harm. It would probably only give an hour or two of effect, but there would also be learned behavior and neuro-remodeling over time.

One potential danger with Oxytocin is that it increases trust which for most social phobics would probably be a good thing overall, but it also very likely makes you easier prey for scammers etc...

It's a good point. One of the characteristics of autistics is that they are very concrete in their thinking, and do not easily detect ulterior motives. One of my sons is severly autistic and in a university program for young adults who are autistic; they are taught how to pick up on social cues and detect nefarious intentions. For example, on a subway, a thief might ask an autistic person how much money they have in their wallet, and the autistic person is very likely to answer honestly and without suspicion. Oxytocin would increase this tendency, as it does increase trust. So, it's use would have to be tailored to the situation. Nonetheless, I find it extremely useful.

Synchro - do you know of a reputable seller? Seem to be only able to find what look to be slightly dubious sprays aimed at a pheromonal type use.

I would give DHEA a shot. It's a non anabolic hormone which has lot of important effects in the brain. It's actually the most effective and noticeable supplement I've ever taken, 25-50mg in the morning and I almost always will go through my entire day without any dips in mood or social anxiety. The first day I tried it in high school I remember flirting with every girl left and right and getting girls numbers who I'd never talked to before. It kind of spooked me how much effective it was and I've learned now that its something to be sparing with, but certainly a fascinating substance.

a good review on DHEA

Although it is the precursor to testosterone and estrogen, it isn't necessarily converted to them in the body, It has been shown to not raise testosterone levels in young men http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/10613429
However, I think you will get some sex hormone conversion if taken in too high of a dosage. I stopped using it in high school because I had an episode of mood swings that reminded me of puberty, I assume from some kind of hormonal effect.

Just bear in mind that ARRHYTHMIA is a common SIDE EFFECT of DHEA supplementation ;)

N.B. If you are in need of HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY it is a better idea to have your physician prescribe you BIOIDENTICAL TESTOSTERONE, than to supplement with DHEA :)
