I just recently received my order from Smart Powders, and I'm happy with my order. I order oxiracetam and choline. I first took 750mg of oxiracetam combined with choline yesterday, and it made me sleepy. I also had an upset stomach, I'm not sure if it was because of that, may have been too much turkey haha

I have't felt any change mentally. I'm not new to the *racetam family of nootropic drugs, I've taken aniracetam before with very nice benefits. I'm just wondering if within the beginning stages of taking oxiracetam if most people feel nothing until later on? Does the body have to get use to it? Or should I have felt something with the very first pill?

With racetams in general, some people feel effects immediately, and some only after a week or even two.

Did you need choline when you were taking aniracetam? Choline can have effects of its own, so it's a little hard to say which is causing your sleepiness. I'd suggest trying oxiracetam by itself, maybe at a few different dosages, and see if it produces side effects which require choline cosupplementation.

I thought oxircetam requires choline? How will
I know if I need to take choline with it?

I'm currently taking 750mg one a day, with choline combined with inositol.

On the side I'm also taking Cordyceps and garlic. Any racetam is suppose to be safe right? I should be able to take it and not have any negative side affects, perhaps by tomorrow I should take It alone and report back to you.

No racetam needs choline, its a imminst myth, yes they can show synergy but that doesnt mean it needs it, other synergetic supplements are fish oil and some ppl have succes adding l glutamine.

Agreed. For two decades, people have been believing and suggesting to others that piracetam and choline are inseparable. I guess the origin of this myth is the popular book Smart Drugs & Nutrients from Dean and Morgenthaler. I quote from page 45:

We know of one person who claims she feels slightly agitated and depressed if she takes piracetam for more than a week without a choline supplement. This feeling is alleviated for her with a single dose of choline. It may be that the piracetam causes the acetylcholine to be used up more quickly and that the choline helps to replace this important neurotransmitter.

No, not everyone needs choline with racetams. But for some people (myself included), it alleviates pretty severe side effects. Suggesting it's just a myth is doing people a disservice...the only myth is that everyone needs it.

Fish oil also reduced side effects for a lot of people, (and thats me included), you are correct but that still means its being overstated alot, for another group of ppl the choline can cause mood issues.

Should be taken with water (empty stomach).

You could always try sublingual (UNDER the tongue) for better absorption, but I don't think there's much of a difference with the racetams.
Swallowing down with water should be good. Sublingual absorption will give faster effects, though. Oxi doesn't taste bad, so it's definitely an option.

Oxiracetam has about 75% oral bioavailability, so just taking it in water or a capsule is fine. Taking it under the tongue might increase this slightly, but on the other hand, that's a lot more powder than is usually used in sublingual doses. I have to wonder if all of this would even be absorbed...

I see, in any case efficiency is the same right? (sublingual or water)
how many time does it effect when swallowed? something like 30-40mins?
75% of bioavailability means that if I take 1g only 750mg will be used?

Most everyone just swallows it and is the standard. When doses are cited it does not take into account what is actually absorbed and used. So a standard 800mg dose and the subsequent effects (felt within an hour usually but sometimes people don't respond until after several doses so your mileage may vary) are judged with that in mind. I wouldn't get caught up in taking an extra amount to compensate for the <100% bioavailability. 75% is a rough estimate. Again, it is theorized that sublingual may increase absorption but I'd just swallow it as you'll want to gauge how the effects are at a standard dosage and take it as is done by most everybody else and then decide if you would like to trial whether or not sublingual is even worth the trouble. As chrono said 1g is a lot of powder to hold under your tongue and to me that just doesn't seem feasible or necessary as most racetam-related effects reported are from those that simply swallow it. I must say of all the racetams to try taking sublingually oxi may be your best bet as it's supposedly the "least worst" tasting. Should you try to take other racetams sublingually like pramiracetam, for example, you may be in for a "treat". Keep it simple. :)

Personally I get headaches when I don't take a choline source with my racetam.
Perhaps this is because of what I have read about combining the two has created a belief
which is strong enough to manifest a physical symptom like a headache.

The way I have always thought about it is that the racetam is burning the choline, the racetam
is like plugging in an extra motor onto your brain and it uses Choline as fuel to burn to make it
run.

However, having said that for some reason I have always found plain old Lecithin to work best
for me. I have tried Alpha GPC and Centrophenoxine. However it is difficult to truely know because
sometimes my stack gets so many levels that its hard to know what is doing what. Lets just say
that I have had great milage using plain old Piracetam and Lechithin. In fact I just received a
new order of Piracetam about 3 days ago. The 1st night I took 2x2400mg each with 1200mg
Lechithin with 3-4 hours between doses. The next day I took 3x2400mg doses spaced thru the
day...by the evening I was finding I was able to access obscure memories from of the distant dusty
corners of my mind instantly in the middle of a dialogue to other people. I think getting into a
conversation with others is a good way to know the racetam is working, when you are able to
access the memory archive instantly making connections in real time. This realisation will then
be further supported by writing. Indeed the racetams seems to be most active in the verbal
sphere, but implicit in this is the better memory access. If your brains synapses were like
the telephone network, it is the equivalent to replacing a rusting copper network with optical
lines.

::UPDATE::

Hey everyone,

So I've been taking Oxiracetam for longer then 2 weeks now, and I still feel nothing. At first I was taking Oxiracetam with Choline, but then I stopped taking choline with it, I've been recently just take Oxiracetam by itself and still nothing. Is there anyone who has experienced this? Any ideas?

Note: I was taking 750mg of Oxiracetam right after breakfast, each morning.

Hum, where have you bought those? Probably it wasn't genuine oxiracetam, seems weird that effects doesn't show up...
I'm quite worried by what you said cause I bought mine from some Irish guy on Ebay and I wouldn't like to get scammed.

By the way, I stumbled upon that website : http://www.mindnutri...0-x-750mg).html
They sell it as capsules, what do you guys think of that? It would be much practical for me to use those than mere powder.

Oxiracetam is water soluble and should be taken on an empty stomach (an hour prior to a meal would work).

That's an understatement. It's actually quite pleasant. Tastes sweet... artificial... but pleasantly sweet. I was pleasantly surprised. I actually think that's how I found this forum; searching to see if it was supposed to be sweet or if SP sent me granulated sugar ;)

Yeah I thought of that also, I tried that a few times. I still felt nothing. I know what I should be feeling, I've taken aniracetam before.

What are those feelings exactly?
Cause I took 1/4 of a teaspoon of oxiracetam 3 hours ago and then another one 1 hour ago and I don't feel like my mind has changed or my cognitive abilities got better or anything else.

Renfr,

Aniracetam was very interesting for me, I felt some pressure on my head as if I was trying to balance some books on my head. That may be perhaps a weird description haha. Not only did I feel this pressure on my head, but I also thought of things much quicker. For example, I had more attention, better focus. When someone would ask me a question about something, I would response with more answers and details about the possibilities. It was an awesome feeling haha

Yeah I had some of those effects with my 1300mg oxi dose, I am much more alert, I can think without any effort it's not a pain anymore, my sight has more contrast and colours and also it removed radically my social anxiety meaning that I don't care anymore of what people think of me and my mood seems much better but it doesn't makes me more talkative (only Bacopa does that to me). Also I think I can do multiple tasks more easily, it's kinda really awesome.
I was able to learn a 4 page course in not even 5-10 mins and today in my exam I wrote like 12 pages during 4h I had everything in my head, it just came out like that I didn't even stop writing to think it just came by itself... I regret I haven't tried that drug before, it's not even toxic and has no side effect (at least to me), it's a real wonder.

From what I could read on the internet Aniracetam seems better to improve logics while oxiracetam increases memorization, probably you didn't feel anything special due to that.
I just ordered some aniracetam as well to try it out, we'll see if that's it or not. Do you mind if I ask you how much aniracetam did you take per day?

Hey Renfr,

I started out with a very low dosage at about 500mg, i gradually worked up my dosage to about 1-1.5 grams per day.

Note: I started my day with 1.5 grams, hopefully with an increase of my dosage I can determine if oxiracetam will work for me. stay tuned :-)

Did it work out?
I took about the same dosage (some 1300mg) this saturday and sunday and then started to read dozens of newspapers and magazines for my studies and it seems to really have an effect. It doesn't make me high or whatsoever, it's natural.
It's funny, now I remember all figures just by reading them once
I can read much faster and understand at the same time, I can even listen to songs while reading and understand it all.

The only really annoying thing is that I never know when it starts, I took my doses at midday before eating, and now that I'm talking meaning 8 hours later I think that the effects are at their highest, I have that "blurry" sight effect now which I didn't several hours ago, it's not blurry in fact but I would rather say it's vivid.
