The fluoride has negative side effects only if it is being swallowed through the mouth or after being injected. In order to cause neurodegenerative changes of the brain, the spine, and the nerves, it must be taken for a long time in doses, that are higher than those from the regulations.
The fluoride medications, that the denists use, and the fluoride in the toothpastes, are used only localy, over the teeth and are not for swallowing. When they are used after the washing of the teeth with water, the dosages of the remainig fluoride, that can be swallen are too low to cause side effects. There are fluoride tablettes, that are used for profilaxy of caries, and are being taken through the mouth. However, they are not taken for a long time, and their doses are calculated, so that they not to cause side effects. As for the fluoride content of the water and the food, the recommendations of the majority of the dentists will be to be followed the standarts written in the regulations, since long time usage of high doses of fluorides cause also a condition of the teeth, named "fluoridosis".
