Hey guys, I plan to buy my first resveratrol supplement and I was wondering if this brand is worth anything?

http://www.swansonvi.../ItemDetail?n=0

I'm open for suggestions.

Doctors Best is a great company; I generally like their products. Swanson is a great vendor; they've been around forever and offer great value. The problem I have with this particular product is that it's not obvious from what I can see at the site what the strenght of the extract is. It might be a 50% extract, in which case it will contain emodin and other substances with their own sometimes negative side effect profiles. Because it's a low dose, you could still get away with that, usually. If it's a high purity extract, which I kinda doubt, then it's a really great value. It contains red wine polyphenols, which many would consider a plus.

Thank you Niner.

I know that micronized resveratrol by revgenetics would be better, but it's kinda expensive.

I will probably buy drs best and hopefully it will be something more than placebo :)

We are working on a new product that is not micronized Estrogen, keep an eye on my company website in the next 1-2 weeks, if it's something you want to consider.

From my experience and research that's been posted, you want a MINIMUM of 300-500mg in a single dose per day to even begin to achieve blood levels for benefits. Many (including myself) take up to a gram or more per day in a single dose. This product is severely under-dosed in my opinion. At the standard 500mg dose, a bottle will last 12 days at a cost of about $1 per day. I believe there are better alternatives. Don't expect 100mg to do much of anything in the body. I believe such small doses to be ineffectual and as such, a waste. But YMMV.

Hebbeh is right. This is why I take [product] from [website]! It offers 380 mg Trans-Resveratrol + 100 mg OPC per Caps. (being 120 Caps in one bottle)

But 500 mg are forbidden in Europe, unfortunately. So I always search for certifications - but [product] has this.

Beste Regards
Willi

Edit: Commercial references removed -mod

Certifications stating content of resveratrol is one thing, stating emodin, heavy metals and microbials... those type of certifications are not generally shown to the public.

Our company has these COA's that show not only resveratrol content but the rest, does biotivia show you this content? Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think the ever have provided any COA showing heavy metal or microbial safety testing... have they?

Hi,
Anthony sells under the name revgenetics.
http://www.revgenetics.com/
His Resveratrol is better and less money.
Swanson is more expensive and lower quality.

that resevatrol is very expensive.

however this 50% trans-resveratrol is only $13.99 However, Res products must have 98% purity which I believe this product has that. The bad part is it is only 30 caps.

It can't be both 50% and 98%...has to be one or the other...probably 50%.

The market price ex works China, has dropped 50% or more since 2009, but the cost of these products has not; but material cost of the actie ingredient is typically 20% or less of the retail cost.

Unfortunately, what is being offered now is often old stock, produced in 2009 and stored, now being sold below cost. Some traders mix 98% resveratrol extracted from P. cuspidatum with 99% pure synthetic produced by bacterial fermentation, which is cheaper. Some are produced with hexane and other chemicals (which might be OK for human consumption) and others are produced using onlt ethanol.

But n any case, the cost to the consumer is relatively high, especially for quality products.

Can anyone recommend a place to purchase 98% powder resveratrol in bulk that is high quality? Revgenetics seems to be out. Megaresveratrol is the only one I can find since the list hasn't been updated in awhile. Thank you.

I can supply you with some bulk 98% but I am not a dealer.
I could spare you 100 grams.
See COA attachment for details.

I cannot say for any other company, but I've only been using resveratrol from RevGenetics.

The resveratrol sold by them seemed to be of good quality, being of purity 99% and, if you're taking the micronized version, micronized to 1.5 microns. Besides, their product was used in a recent study by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine to positive results, so that's a great indicator of success in their profile.

Their resveratrol products were independently tested by american testing company to test for contaminations as well.

Those fit the bill for a good supplier of resveratrol.

I'd love to know if other suppliers provide the same, so I can compare.

I never had a need for their customer service so I cannot say for that, but it is possible that the operators are busy with the launching of their new product.

Hi Daisy,

sorry the phone people where out during the holidays. However you and I did have a good conversation all the way until almost midnight New Years eve on "Face-book" the other night.

I hope I answered all your questions.

Cheers

A

Definitely agree, vitamin world has a good one as well.

Anyone tried the 99% trans-resveratrol powder for $81 for 250g from Powder City?

Seems like a good deal, I've never bought or used resveratrol before so would welcome any opinions.

Thanks.
