From the outside I can see how this might be an interesting window into the cause, but from the inside Im left wondering if it isnt a mockery.

Cryogenic Work Shop at Wild Bear Mountain Ecology Center
Stop by Wild Bear Mountain Ecology Center to meet Professor Cryo! She is such a wacky scientist and will be performing magic at the Center! We will hammer nails with bananas, shatter beautiful flowers, and make ice cream with nitrogen! Come on over for the fun and enjoy the delicious treat and bid in the silent auction.

If its not a mockery then this would be something interesting to think about getting some materials out to, but too bad on the timeline, being tomorrow and all.

Well, I think the volunteers from Nederlands run the show, and I suppose it's a bit lighthearted. In any case, there's a guy frozen in dry ice in a shed.

What's the line that separates mockery and good fun?

I think that line is if it supports the cause and doesnt only serve to ridicule it or put it in a light like, Halloween or something. From what I gather so far and from what you tell me, it seems like its supportive though. Im reminded of something like Easter, where there is this ordeal with an egg laying rabbit and all that, but the event is still focused toward a serious cause (well, they take Easter seriously, I don't)
