I've posted in the past about my problems with energy, or the lack thereof. For years now, my energy level has been around a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10. Because of this, I used stimulants for years to stay awake through the day. After awhile I stopped using some of the stronger stimulants but kept using caffeine, up until 4 weeks ago when I finally quit using that too. I was hoping that once I got over the withdrawal I would find out that I felt better without caffeine. That didn't end up being the case. However, I have found a lot of success using Thorne Adrenal Cortex Extract. In fact, I've been experiencing two of the most awake and aware weeks I've had in a very long time. The only day I felt abnormally tired was the day I forgot to take the Thorne extract in the morning.
The main issue I have is there's so little real information out there about whether it's safe to be using an adrenal cortex supplement, and for how long. There isn't even any consensus on whether something like "adrenal burnout" even exists. When I try to find information on it, it seems like all the results I get have been filtered through various biases for or against the concept.
Is this something I should taper off using? Is it normal to feel so much energy after using an adrenal supplement?
If I have some sort of adrenal issue, what other supplements should I avoid? For instance, I have a supplement called Relora that supposedly lowers cortisol. Good or bad thing?
