I've posted in the past about my problems with energy, or the lack thereof. For years now, my energy level has been around a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10. Because of this, I used stimulants for years to stay awake through the day. After awhile I stopped using some of the stronger stimulants but kept using caffeine, up until 4 weeks ago when I finally quit using that too. I was hoping that once I got over the withdrawal I would find out that I felt better without caffeine. That didn't end up being the case. However, I have found a lot of success using Thorne Adrenal Cortex Extract. In fact, I've been experiencing two of the most awake and aware weeks I've had in a very long time. The only day I felt abnormally tired was the day I forgot to take the Thorne extract in the morning.

The main issue I have is there's so little real information out there about whether it's safe to be using an adrenal cortex supplement, and for how long. There isn't even any consensus on whether something like "adrenal burnout" even exists. When I try to find information on it, it seems like all the results I get have been filtered through various biases for or against the concept.

Is this something I should taper off using? Is it normal to feel so much energy after using an adrenal supplement?

If I have some sort of adrenal issue, what other supplements should I avoid? For instance, I have a supplement called Relora that supposedly lowers cortisol. Good or bad thing?

Hy,

i'd strongly "recommend" to read this :

Adrenal Fatigue: The 21st Century Stress Syndrome [Paperback]
James L. Wilson (Author), Johnathan V. Wright (Foreword)
http://www.amazon.co...e/dp/1890572152

... after that, you should have an clearer look on your topic.

Dude artikel 2 :Dehydroepiandrosterone supplementation in women with adrenal failure: (
citate: (1) Short-term DHEA administration in women with adrenal failure normalizes the circulating levels of androgens

Ist a big difference, if you have this it will bee seen in blood testing (24 urine testing by a endocrinoloog). and you will get a treatment. the book adrenal fatigeu 21 centurie is not based on this " pubmed" artikels of you.

So you can go on wifh that but your nice artikels are not a confirmation fore your story.

... in my "world" a "failure" is the last stage of Adrenal Fatigue ...

... why you just took one of my links and neglected the others ?

... like that :

"...
Despite clear benefits of DHEA administration in patients with adrenal insufficiency, the results of DHEA supplementation in healthy euadrenal subjects are not so clear-cut.
..."

1 because i dont want to take time to critisize al the 4 studies you just snatch out of pubmed.

2 sure anybody may do that, but there is a difference between feeling en doing right

3 so you stated that real things like addison`s disease just come as a result of stress en al the other things mentioned in that `book``

4 oke goodbye

I suffered from Adrenal Fatigue for a number of years, I was diagnosed via a 24 hour saliva test. For about 8 years my energy levels were at a 2. I only felt comfortable lying down and life was such a struggle, doing anything significant required such a large amount of willpower.

It turns out the underlying issue I had was Pyroluria and that was the cause of the strain on my adrenals.

I take a supplement called Adrenal Energy Formula by Life Extension. I've had all kinds of blood work and tests done, everything is OK so I think my constant fatigue, lack of energy, motivation is tied to drinking copius amounts of coffee and leading a stressful lifestyle, coupled with abusing various substances leading to adrenal fatigue. I also have candida overgrowth which puts additional stress on the adrenals so dealing with that as well.

I do take Dexedrine ER 10mg for ADHD but that does nothing to help my energy levels. It just keeps my thoughts coherent and I can sit still for more then 5 minutes.

Yes, the adrenal cortex formula by Thorne is safe....but I think taking adaptogens, PQQ, fish oils, tyrosine, vit. C etc. is a better way to go but that's just me....do whatever works for ya and good luck! ;)
