The following are all mainly things we could consider and do for free. These are things that I have gathered from going through marketing and outreach for the yearly budget, things I know about, and various ideas and proposals from around the forum.
  • find a way to encourage people to post more longecity links in their topics and responses. Check into putting links in signatures, and if possible then see about encouraging a few active posters to put key links in theirs.
  • make Facebook pages for popular sub forums: supps, noots, townhall, philosophy, community science, bioscience in order to make most of the topics link back to relevant Longecity topics. See about trialing it by asking the Immortal FB admins (of which Im one thanks to Joseph) if we can do this. Post short blurb with each link.
  • encourage member blogs, check if blogs can be fed into active topics
  • beef up the Longecity main blog, find a regular Longecity blog writer
  • encourage some, periodic, new similar posts and discussions rather than discourage
  • see if participation goes up with the top Google banner moved
  • look to take more traffic and convert to member revenue. Any time I stop and write to around 10 to 20 new registrants, I usually get 1 or 2 that then get involved a little more. How can we multiply that? I think it might even be worth it to consider paying a person or two to write registrants with personalized discussion, one on one, full time. or, rather than pay, alternatively, link a textless welcome message directly to a welcome topic. This is instead of paying somebody to write to every new registrant. Maybe also add a poll to it.
  • make more top 3, top 5, top 10 types of posts. Create some of them through polls, and maybe put polls in some of them.
  • see about bringing ustream back in, in some capacity. Maybe a live registrants greeter(s) for those registrants that so choose to partake in it? Maybe see if Mind would put the interviews back in there?
  • recognition poll like Caliban has proposed. You nominate a person who you think is helpful to the forum and they are added into a poll where people can vote that they agree or not.
  • one on one expert discussion invites. Ask 2 people to discuss a topic for 30 minutes to an hour, in a topic locked to all but them and maybe an admin group or two.
  • ask other indefinite life extension orientated organizations to write an article on themselves, tailored to Longecity in any ways possible, in a rotation each month. (i.e. if 7 organizations then ask one of them each month then start the list over after 7 months)
  • find a full time content management organizer.
  • try posting periodic topics as short videos and see about marking them as such somehow, and or see about highlighting the video gallery more.Try dressing some topics up more with pictures, color, etc.
  • make a list of related organizations to contact about potential banner exchanges.
  • keep in mind that networking with smaller orgs adds up to the same, but stronger numbers, than trying to network with one or two big orgs typically generates.
  • find a way to position ourselves in more places where we will purposefully, selectively, clash with more conventional sort of thinking. Maybe ask a large general Facebook health group to be an admin to do a weekly Longecity related topic column, and see if we can expand from there?
  • keep up with the topic tags, encourage the topic that asks tags lists. add the notion that we probably want to keep them similar within a set of tags, add 3 to 6 but not too many, add a few new ones for each new topic/set of tags, mix some words if can like “health activism” “supplements long term muscle” etc.
  • see about adding a mandatory address field to the registration and member sign up. That's covered by paypal.
  • see if we can get pictures posted in topics, to show up when posting the topic in places like FB. FB currently only displays the Longecity logo, no matter what pictures may be in the topic. FB allows you to click through the picture of your choosing for links with multiple pictures from other sources though.

How about setting up a Zello channel for Longecity members and/or other interested people to chat about Longecity topics? Zello is ptt (push to talk) walkie-talkie cross platform for Android, Iphone, PC, and Blackberry. You can talk one-on-one or create these public or private pw protected channels. Much like old style CB radio channels or Nextel's push to talk.... Think Twitter but with voice instead of text. There's a free version and a work version. It's easy to use and pretty fun as long as there are people talking and mods keep the riff-raff out of the channels, which may be reason to make it a private channel. You can set up times for everybody to get in and talk about specific topic(s) of interest.

We could test out moving the supplements and nootropics sections to the top of the bioscience section, and then move the bioscience section to the top of the forum to try to further harness the participation momentum.

We have made some gains in working with items in the topic. If anybody wants to help exhaust the list, try it all out and report on it then let me know.

Just try to use the internal search function for anything.
