Just wanted to revisit resveratrol's effect on aerobic performance, see if there are anymore anecdotal reports of significant improvement.

Has anyone tried cycling high doses (over 3 grams a day) for two weeks, then taking two weeks off?

Are there any plans to produce a transdermal Resveratrol patch?

Both my girl friend and myself swear by it for aerobic indurance. I'm not an indurance athlete by nature but won 3rd place in a 5k last summer in CO at over 8000 feet 2 months after moving here and without training for it. I'm 54. My new coworkers who run were impressed. They take fitness seriously here in CO. I attribute a lot of it to resveratrol. That and healthy living.

I'm not going to say I'm not in pretty good shape and work out 5 times a week....just that I'm not a runner at heart and don't train for 5k's or distance running. I don't run at all. This was my first 5k...and probably my last because as I said, I really don't enjoy distance running and there are so many other ways to enjoy staying in shape...especially here. I didn't even do distance running when I was a kid...I was a sprinter and hated distance running.....but I definately feel resveratrol has improved my endurance and was one of the reasons I was able to do that. My girlfriend can claim the same and has commented she will never go without resveratrol due to the aerobic effect. I definately feel resveratrol has helped me stay athletic at almost 55. I can out do a lot of the younger kids....and it isn't due to genes..

If you run on the treadmill at a gym you could compare your athleticism to the younger kids.
My wife is 55 and she can outrun the majority.
She supplements with 1,500 mg of 98 to 99% Resveratrol per day.

Hebbeh, how long was it before you started noticing endurance effects?

I'm not sure. I've been taking resveratrol daily non-stop since September 2006 when I started with 160mg/day (4 x 40mg of the 50%) and within a few months went to 240mg (6 x 40mg). Eventually, prices came down and 98% became available and at one time I was taking a gram in the morning and another gram in the afternoon. Currently, I am taking 1 gram in capsules with another 500mg sublingually first thing in the morning (1.5 grams total). I have been taking 1 gram+ for 3-4 years and it was sometime after reaching the gram/day dose that I noticed that aerobic exercise became easier. I don't recall how long the effect became apparent. I can also say that my girlfriend has amazing aerobic abilities for a 46 year old smoker...which she attributes to the help of resveratrol and claims it is a supp she can't do without.

The cycling coach who posted here, measured his athletes and his own performance with an ergonometer, and found a measureable improvement only after the third month of a rigorous training schedule. His dose was 400 mg daily.

Anecdotally, at 44 yrs of age, I seem to be able to cycle with the faster riders in my club (and I'm not able to ride as often as they are). I currently take ~500-750 mg/day.

Something seems to be giving me more energy for exercise lately. Over the past few days, I've recently gone up to 1 g of 99% t-res + 200 mg of luteolin. Lately I've been running 35-47 miles/week. After a tempo run yesterday, I felt unusually energized afterwards, and I ran a marathon on Saturday.
