I have been doing moderate CR maintaining a BMI of 20. I had not checked my blood glucose for many years and thought it might be a good idea to check out somer meals that may be problematic and be causing PP spikes. The following meals were tested 1/2 and 1 1/2 hours after eating them with a brand new Bayer Breeze 2 meter.
1.) 3 oz sockeye salmon-1 cup peas-1/2 cup corn-1 1/2 tsp olive oil 2 cups blueberries (frozen) 2 cups green tea
results 1/2 =98--1 1/2 = 89
2.) a snack of low fat vanilla ice cream-about 6 grams of fat in the 1 cup serving eaten about 3 hours after the meal listed above
results at 1/2 hr. 104 at 1 1/2 hour 89
3. 6 oz. pomegranate follwowed by 1 cup brown rice-15 raw almonds-1/2 oz. walnuts-truvia-1 cup almond milk-1 apple- 2 tsp olive oil -1 rice cake
results 1/2 hour = 98 1 1/2 hour = 91
These results seem way to low for PP glucose-the meter does not require calibration-you simply place a 10 meter wheel into it and close it up. The meter as I said is a brand name and brand new out of the box and works perfectly in every respect-but I seriously question the results especially considering I was hoping to simply be under 120!
Has anyone had an experience like this or do are the numbers just too low to be reliable?
Thanks,
Mike
