At the very least with 1g doses of ALCAR and 150mg Wellbutrin SR I did not notice anything that seemed off

You could try cutting the ALCAR to 500mg. 500 twice a day is a pretty common dose.

Yes, noticed absolutely nothing like interactions (then again, I also never actually noticed anything from ALCAR)

I'm on 300mg bupropion SR...I'm finding ALCAR and DMAE are essential companions. My memory went down the tubes with Bupropion--a super cOmmon complaint. I feel excellent with the combo. It has been 3 months.

It took me a month to adjust to the Bupro. Initially ALCAR, caffeine, anything was hyping me up and making my sleep shallow.

ok i dont know if it is the ALCAR (500mg 2x/day) or wellbutrin that start working (after almost 3 weeks) but yesterday i found myself working on my yard, cleaning the pool, painting the fence, cleaning the house... i was unstoppable and by 10 pm i was so exhausted but cannot stop doing things... it was NOT pleasant at all, iwill stop ALCAR cause im pretty sure it is too much.

wellbutrin is anticholinergic so ALCAR would probably be a good thing to add

Malachi I had an initial hyped up period too. I kind of liked it. But it wears off pretty quickly (within a week for me). Maybe give your body a bit more time to acclimate to the welli?

Orajel, Is it possible that the anticholinergic effect is part of the desired antidepressant effect of wellbutrin? If so , taking ALCAR would alter the desired effect of wellbutrin, acetylcholine is good for memory but i dont know what it does for mood, maybe it conteracts dopamine?? I dont know...

Possibly, thats the theory. I haven't found anything stating that low acetylcholine levels make people happy, but there is a good amount of documented research indicating that EXCESS acetylcholine levels can induce depressed mood. The excess acetylcholine levels in the studies I've read were induced by acetylcholinesterase inhibitors.

I don't think anybody knows for sure if wellbutrin is effective in party by reducing acetylcholine, but it's possible. Wellbutrin works sort of like an amphetamine so thats where most of its efficacy comes from.

It's thought to be much more effective on Norepinephrin than Dopamine though. I did not experience it as strong mood brightener but it definitely provided an energy boost if sometimes at the price of anxiety which would also point more toward Norepinephrine than Dopamine (which I understand has an euphoria inducing effect but I lack personal experience with strong dopaminergics)

Thats what i think too, i feel the energy boost but nothing for mood and with no motivation i dont know what to do with the extra energy from wellbutrin, i had 4 weeks at 150 sr and then 4 weeks 2x/day 150 sr and now 1 week 300 xl, i got a short burst of energy soon after i tool the pill and then i want to sleep the rest of the day. i think Next week ill give up with this med if it doesnt do much for me than coffee.

hi everyone just to mention im at 3 month wellbutrin xl 300mg and i dont feel better, the side effects are gone but also the enegy boost... i still procrastinate the most of the time, lack of focus and motivation, always want to take a nap... i also have a hard time trying to resist fast food since on that med. but the thing is... i realise that since a couple of weeks, i care less for my problems, like it doesnt bother me anymore, this is enought to scare me, i dont want to forget my problems, i only want to have enough mental sharpness to deal with em. seems like i will have to try another med, may be strattera, any suggestions here?
thanks
