I might not be the first to suggest this, but here goes: I've been one of those people who always ends up feeling burned out after taking piracetam. It would only take one or two days of even very small doses to make me feel 'dark'--literally, my visual perception seems darker like on a dull day--perhaps the opposite of what's happening when people report colours being brighter after taking it?
Taking it with: Alcar, choline bitartrate, or lots of raw egg, did little to avert this effect. However, for the first time since day 1 of ever trying piracetam (back in 2010), I've been 'megadosing' it. This went against the grain of what my body felt would be good for it--after all, if a small dose makes me feel crappy, who knows what a much bigger dose would do?
These last three days I've been taking 5+5 grams (and yesterday, 5 + 5 + 5 grams), and I feel fine! Just a bit more alive, energetic version of my usual self. I take a bit of egg each day but I don't think that has anything to do with it given how ineffectual it has been in the past. I also get a small dose (<100mg) of choline (bitartrate) from my multi.
My theory for the inconsistent and often negative experiences with piracetam, is that piracetam at lower doses only reaches some of the bodies' cells/systems, but fails to affect others. This can have a disruptive rather than helpful effect overall, as the systems/cells aren't 'tandemized'. I know this is an oversimplification of what could ever actually be happening, but that's the theory in abstract.
With high doses, the penetration is more thorough and total, every cell, sytem and organ gets the attention of piracetam. The even distribution garners a positive result whereas a lower dose makes one feel worse.
I think one thing you must do is simply eat abundantly and healthily, as whatever piracetam affects becomes more resource-hungry as a result. But choline shouldn't get sole attention; you want a broad gamut of everything the body might need. So a healthy and varied diet, and possibly a good multi, at minimum.
I have to stress the point that at this stage this is only a theory, and I'm not 100% a believer in it yet: there are a lot of things I am taking alongside piracetam that I wasn't taking when I last tried taking it consistently. I will try experimenting with lower doses again in a few weeks (assuming nothing else happens that persuades me to drop the high doses before that time) to see if I revert back to that gloomy negative effect I was receiving the last time I took low (normal) doses.
If I understand correctly, all capsule-forms of piracetam come with choline added? So to do these 'large' doses affordably and without excessive choline consumption, one will want to buy digital scales and the powder form.
So far it looks good. Will report back in a few weeks if it's still going well.
