Has anyone experienced positive effects from CDP-choline in the way of increasing dopamine receptor densities? Things like permanently improved mood or inclination to socialize?

Or has anyone experienced negative effects associated with said effect?

I've experienced the first while taking 250mg a day for a month or so, effects started first day and eventually got super strong and lasted for about a week after I stopped or so. I don't know if this is due to increased dopamine recetors, but it isn't due to it being a choline source.

Interesting. Thanks. I tried to find some reason behind it, and I ended up reading more into the positive effects of citicoline. It sounds miraculous.

I've had both experiences. It has a psychostimulant-like effect when you keep taking it [increase in motivation and ability while working, better working memory, clearer mind even when sleep deprived, more logical thinking] and the benefits last in my opinion, though they are more mild when you are off of it.

However on the negative side, I also noticed that if I smoke too much weed or drink too much caffeine I am more sensitive to the negative effects than usual and the negative effect seems to stretch on a bit. Keep in mind i have a subtle underlying schizophrenia that is pretty easily aggravated. I have a feeling that the citicoline made my dopamine receptors more receptive overall and that I have to be careful because of that.

If I could say anything I would say it definitely works over time, and you probably don't need to go over 250mg a day. Actually for a long while I was doing only about 50 mg a day. I found out after megadosing with this and other choline supplements that it's not a good idea to megadose cuz it ends up causing bad side effects like overstimulation, changes in blood pressure etc. .. anyway because of that I did end up finding some information online that citicoline's half life is ~50 hours, which is why I don't think the dose has to be very high, and also these "dopaminergic" effects I've described are long-lasting though perhaps less pronounced when not taking the supplement.

Also I found with the lower dose it definitely enhanced 'dopaminergic/ noradrenergic' type feelings without causing any "depressive" type acetylcholinergic feelings [I'm particularly sensitive to the depression of cholinergics, I think, if there is too much. Subjectively speaking. ]

But ya for me personally this definitely helps in the long term, I'd say it's one of the only supplements for me that did this.

Its interesting stuff, I took it mainly as a choline source but found out it gives me insomnia when I take it in the evening which is not so typical for a normal choline source like bitartrate.
The insomia could be related to taking racetams too late in the day but that never was a problem in the past for me.

I have no depression symptoms either rather the opposite.
I take it only for a few days now and I will continue and update

My trials with sulbutiamine were good too and I really didnt need much of it to improve my mood.

I took a gram per day for a few years. A few weeks ago I bumped it up to 1400mg per day. I take it in divided doses.

I never really noticed anything concrete. I think I might lower my dose to 750mg or so, just for a general supply of choline.

Now those are whopping doses. I have horrible experiences from alpha GPC. Instant deep depression and bad nausea. But CDP choline is fine. They say most of the unique effects are from it partially converting to uridine and that as a choline source it is least likely to cause side effects. Chemically that makes perfect sense.
